About Us

Knowable, part of LexisNexis, is a leading contract intelligence solution that helps organizations unlock valuable insights from their executed agreements. By combining legal expertise, structured contract data, and advanced AI technologies, Knowable transforms complex contractual language into actionable intelligence. Our solutions enable businesses to better understand their contract portfolios, identify risks and opportunities, and make faster, more informed decisions. With Generative AI playing an increasingly important role in our technology, we bring together legal expertise, data, and innovation to shape the future of contract intelligence.

About the Role

The Knowable AI Content Optimization Specialist is a hybrid role at the intersection of legal expertise, contract intelligence, and applied Generative AI.

You will be responsible for designing, operationalizing, and continuously improving LLM-driven capabilities within Knowable’s contract intelligence platform and operational workflows. The role translates complex legal reasoning into structured, scalable AI solutions that enable accurate and meaningful interpretation, extraction, and analysis of contractual language.

Working closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Legal subject-matter experts, and Operations, you will help ensure that AI-powered solutions are legally meaningful, operationally scalable, and trusted by our customers.

The ideal candidate combines strong commercial contracts expertise with hands-on experience applying Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to real-world legal or contract workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and operationalize LLM-driven contract intelligence workflows, including structured data extraction, prompt design, guidance refinement, exception handling, and failure pattern analysis.

  • Translate complex legal reasoning, reviewer guidance, clause libraries, and data models into structured, production-ready LLM instructions, schemas, taxonomies, and evaluation criteria.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to develop AI capabilities from initial concepts and prototypes through to scalable production solutions.

  • Develop evaluation and quality frameworks covering model accuracy, completeness, hallucination detection, evidence validation, consistency, and human-in-the-loop review requirements.

  • Design approaches for handling contractual ambiguity, negotiated clause variations, legal equivalence, materiality, and edge cases while maintaining clear documentation and governance standards.

  • Integrate Generative AI capabilities into operational workflows and measure their impact on quality, speed, coverage, consistency, and service levels.

  • Act as an AI-fluent legal domain expert within Knowable Operations, supporting cross-functional design discussions, AI governance, stakeholder communication, training, and release readiness.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial legal practice, contract review, contract intelligence, contract management, legal technology, or legal operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD strongly preferred, or equivalent depth of commercial contract-law expertise.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Generative AI and LLMs, including prompt design and iteration, structured outputs, grounding and citation strategies, and model performance evaluation.

  • Demonstrated experience applying or deploying LLM-powered solutions within production or operational environments, ideally within legal technology, contract analytics, or contract intelligence.

  • Deep understanding of commercial contracts, including vendor and procurement agreements, NDAs, amendments, and the ability to assess legal equivalence, materiality, and risk across clause variations.

  • Experience translating legal judgment into structured systems such as schemas, taxonomies, rubrics, decision trees, and AI/ML quality assurance frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Legal, and Operations teams.
