Job description

As a Manager, Coding your work at Tegria will focus on managing a team delivering outsourced coding services, primarily to critical access to hospitals and rural health clinics. Leads the team to ensure accurate and timely coding of medical records, compliance with coding standards, and streamlining of coding workflows. Ensures that all coding practices adhere to healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and internal policies, ultimately contributing to precise billing and reimbursement.

Team Management

  • Hire, retain, and enable team development through training and coaching.

  • Perform performance appraisals and pay reviews.

  • Document action plans when team members require corrective action.

  • Foster employee engagement and a collaborative and productive team environment.

  • Establish performance standards and ensure they are met.

  • Provide ongoing training on updates to coding procedures, regulations, and best practices.

  • Offer opportunities for professional development to enhance team skills and maintain certification.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Implement new processes and improve existing ones to achieve team goals.

  • Enforce guidelines, processes, and procedures to meet objectives and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish regular audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.

  • Ensure that codes are assigned correctly for diagnoses, procedures, and services.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, CMS, payer-specific guidelines, and industry coding standards.

  • Stay up to date with coding changes and updates to maintain accuracy and regulatory adherence.

  • Resolve coding-related issues and discrepancies, collaborating with physicians, providers, billing, and other departments to clarify diagnoses, procedures, or billing codes.

  • Act as a point of contact for complex coding inquiries.

  • Performs other generally related duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

We expect:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • CPC, CCA, CCS, CIC or COC

  • Has substantial related experience.

  • Has prior supervisory experience.

  • Experience with relevant software applications and systems, e.g. electronic medical record system.

  • Experience with medical records, claims or billing areas.

  • W2 project-based consultants will be expected to provide a computing device that adheres to industry standards and security best practices to use in satisfying the Project Services on behalf of Tegria

Salary Range

$118,000 - $125,000
