Description:

Reporting directly to the Dean of the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH), with a dual reporting relationship to the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Finance and Operations and the SVP/Enterprise Chief Financial Officer, provides strategic vision, financial leadership, and operational stewardship for the RSPH. The position oversees school-level financial services, human resources, fulfillment services, information technology, and research administration and is the official responsible for unit business decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The leadership role has the responsibility for a budget of $220M and an organization of approximately 400 staff, 200 faculty, and 1200 students.
  • Serves on the school's executive committee as a senior leader in policy and decision making and alignment with strategic plan and the school's tripartite mission of education, research, and practice.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor on financial strategy regarding financial trends, risks and opportunities, and interprets the impact on decisions.

FINANCE:

  • Provides leadership in annual and long-range financial planning and management.
  • Advises the Dean on all matters related to finance, budget planning, and resource allocation.
  • Partners with department chairs to support their strategic initiatives and funding needs.
  • Develops financial models and coordinates with Student Services on enrollment, tuition, and scholarship impacts as well as new programs and degrees.
  • Provides financial and variance reports.
  • Campus liaison for finance and business operations.
  • Takes leadership in the development of financial dashboards, reports, and budget presentations.

HUMAN RESOURCES:

  • Ensures efficiency and compliance in all aspects of HR for the division including recruitment, compensation, employee relations, retention, and employee compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all university policies, federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Implements and evaluates annual merit increases.
  • Partners with department chairs and unit directors on equity and retention concerns, developing action plans, including appropriate competitive equity analysis with appropriate market data.
  • Collaborates with central HR and manages employee relations recommendations and concerns.

FULFILLMENT SERVICES (BUILDING OPERATIONS): 

  • Oversees facilities management of all RSPH buildings, monitors and facilitates all maintenance for day-to-day operations and renovation projects for master planning.
  • Collaborates with Campus Services on building operations and the development and management of capital projects.
  • Allocates and assigns space to departments and reviews utilization.
  • Sponsors and serves on the space committee.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:

  • Oversees information technology services, evaluates future needs and ensures IT meets the overall needs of RSPH.
  • Prioritizes requests and ensures alignment with the revenue generating components of the RSPH strategic plan and goals.

RESEARCH ADMINISTRATION:

  • Oversees school level research administrative functions ensuring appropriate resourcing to ensure research administration continuity.
  • Coordinates with central Office of Research Administration on fiscal, regulatory, and contractual compliance.
  • Completes school level review for proposals being submitted. Documents and reviews faculty effort plans.
  • Engages in planning and problem-solving for departments and centers submitting large grants.

STAFF SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT: 

  • Meets weekly with all direct reports and hosts a quarterly directors meeting.
  • Sponsors the staff council.
  • Oversees and coordinates the staff development series for the school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or related master's degree and 10 years of progressive accounting, financial or related experience, ideally in a higher education setting.
  • Management experience required.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
