1 big thing: We are hiring a reporter to be our subject matter expert on money and power in the Middle East.

Why it matters: This reporter will enhance our coverage of the Middle East by becoming the authority on the big topics and trends that are profoundly shaping Gulf deals and economic development.

  • Anchor a weekly newsletter that will track the intersection of capital and power.
  • Help Axios readers understand how Gulf states leverage trillions to become dominant global investors in sectors spanning technology and professional sports, while simultaneously funding massive domestic infrastructure and emerging champions in AI and aviation to secure unprecedented influence across world capitals.
  • Become our public authority on stage and elsewhere to help illuminate these important issues.

  • Reporting experience in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Demonstrated experience landing big scoops and conceptualizing big ideas.
  • Strong writing skills for online and newsletters.
  • Ability to command a stage and live interview.
  • Experience working across teams to produce quality content.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Location and employment structure

Location: Gulf-Based, Middle East. The specific work location will be determined based on the selected candidate’s location and work authorization, Axios’s business needs and applicable law.

The selected candidate will be employed through a local employer-of-record (EOR) partner or professional employer organization (PEO), with the specific structure varying by country. The employment arrangement must be permissible in the applicable location and is subject to any required work authorization, professional registration, licensing, background checks and other pre-employment or regulatory requirements.

The reporter will work closely with Axios’ editorial team and follow Axios’ editorial standards and direction.
