We collaborate and innovate – pushing one another to transform not just Pacific Life, but the entire industry for the better. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. Pacific Life is more than a job, it’s a career with purpose. It’s a career where you have the support, balance, and resources to make a positive impact on the future – including your own.

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Actuary to join our dynamic PRT pricing team in the Institutional Division at Pacific Life. This role is on-site 4 days per week and work from home 1 day per week in Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE, or Charlotte, NC. If you are not currently located near one of our offices, we offer comprehensive relocation assistance.

The Institutional Division is a fast-growing and innovative segment of our company, offering exciting opportunities to drive profitability, enhance the pricing process, and build a stronger foundation for future success. This role encourages strategic thinking and creative problem-solving, with a focus on developing scalable, easy-to-understand solutions to complex challenges.

As a Senior Actuary, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business. We are looking for a collaborative team player who is skilled at managing stakeholder expectations and prioritizing the team’s success.

How you’ll help move us forward:

  • PRT Transaction Execution: Oversee PRT pricing schedules, ensuring smooth operations, with the ability to forecast scenarios and mitigate risks.

  • Profitability & Performance: Monitor and analyze profitability and business performance, using insights to inform future pricing strategies and drawing connections across deals to uncover valuable insights.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present, justify, and defend pricing outcomes and/or internal projects to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives and transparent communication.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Sales teams to develop competitive, data-driven bidding strategies that align with market conditions.

  • Insightful Communication: Extract actionable insights from analysis and effectively communicate findings through compelling storytelling to drive decision-making.

  • Intuitive Technical Solutions: Ensure that pricing processes, tools, and technical solutions are clear, understandable, and accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Agile Transformation: Navigate transformation initiatives with agility, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring solutions align with collective goals.

  • Big-Picture Thinking: Balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution, managing stakeholder expectations and maintaining open, transparent communication across teams' members.

The experience you bring:

  • Qualified Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) with experience in actuarial pricing, product development, and modeling.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Direct experience with Pension Risk Transfer products.

  • Strong sense of ownership with the ability to take initiative and drive results from start to finish, ensuring alignment within scope.

  • Demonstrable track record of working effectively with others, providing mentorship, and driving team success.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high degrees of ambiguity and change.

  • Ability to see the big picture, drive initiatives with impact, and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & VBA

What makes you stand out:

  • Prior experience with Pension Risk Transfer transaction pricing.

  • Strong team player with a growth mindset, focused on continuous improvement, sustainability, scalability, and empowering others to grow and succeed collectively.

  • Ability to multitask with shifting priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining calm composure and flexibility in handling urgent requests.
