Description:

This position is expected to be a field assignment in Lee County, TX. The location of the assignment can vary depending on the job and/or client. We do offer per diem for those that qualify.

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Engineering Manager / Assistant Project Manager to support a new combined cycle power plant as a full-time on-site representative through project completion in 2028. This position is intended to be based at the project site in Lee County, Texas.

The plant is a 1,200-MW combined cycle natural gas power plant that is under construction. This role will serve as a key on-site technical and project interface between the Owner, EPC contractor, OEM, Engineer of Record, and Owner’s Engineer. The successful candidate will help drive timely engineering coordination, field issue resolution, drawing and document review flow, construction support, and overall project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Sargent & Lundy’s primary on-site engineering and project coordination resource, supporting the Owner’s team and interfacing daily with site leadership, engineering, construction, and key contractors.
  • Coordinate and help expedite technical reviews, engineering decisions, and drawing/comment resolution to support project execution.
  • Support management of RFIs, technical clarifications, design questions, and field issues across multiple disciplines, with emphasis on timely follow-up and closure.
  • Monitor engineering and construction activities for alignment with contract documents, design intent, and project requirements.
  • Provide technical and project-management support for major interfaces among the Owner, EPC Contractor, OEM, and Sargent & Lundy discipline leads.

Work Location and Duration

  • Full-time on-site assignment in Lee County, Texas.
  • Expected duration: through completion of the project, currently anticipated through 2028.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in field engineering, project engineering management, assistant project management, owner’s engineering, EPC execution, or construction support roles.
  • Strong power generation project experience, preferably with combined cycle power plant experience.
  • Experience working on site during active construction and commissioning phases.
  • Working knowledge of engineering document control, technical review workflows, RFIs, submittals, QA/QC processes, and punchlist / turnover activities.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and maintain momentum on open technical and project issues.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organization, and issue-resolution skills.

Compensation Range: $118,023 - $180,313 Transparency Statement: Sargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or an hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and supporting the overall well-being of our employees.
