Job description

About FirstPrinciples

FirstPrinciples is building AI to accelerate scientific discovery. Our core product is the Theo Platform, a research environment built to help researchers iterate faster, validate rigorously, and reach verified results they can trust.

We're a fast-growing, remote-first team of builders, researchers, engineers, and thinkers working across Canada, the US, the UK, and expanding globally. What brings us together is a shared curiosity about how the universe works, and a belief that we can build systems that help us explore it more effectively.

We spend our time working on questions that don't have clear answers, like how to design AI that can reason through scientific problems, and how the scientific process as a whole might evolve. This is work that sits somewhere between creativity and rigorous thinking, and often requires comfort with ambiguity and iteration. If you're someone who enjoys tackling big, abstract problems and exploring ideas that don't yet have a defined path forward, you'll likely find the work here interesting.

Why This Role Exists:

We’re building a new category of AI products for scientific discovery, and how we explain, package, and distribute those products matters almost as much as what we build. At our stage, Marketing is full-cycle and can’t be cleanly divided into large-company functions like brand, product marketing, demand generation, or content and web. We need marketers who can move comfortably across the entire stack with the marketing objective in mind.

This role exists to expand the range and execution capacity of our marketing team, with particular ownership over our website and paid growth channels. You’ll launch and optimize campaigns, build and improve web experiences, and contribute wherever else Marketing needs leverage - including product launches, landing pages, content, creative, analytics, and marketing operations. You’ll be a hands-on builder who can both think about what we should do and independently make it happen.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, produce, and build digital experiences that clearly communicate complex technical products while continuously improving conversion, usability, and performance

  • Plan, launch, manage, and optimize paid acquisition campaigns across channels such as LinkedIn and Google

  • Develop campaign concepts, audiences, creative, landing pages, experiments, and measurement - ensuring paid media is more than simply buying ads

  • Own the design, iteration, and ongoing improvement of our website and landing pages, working directly in tools such as Webflow

  • Use analytics and funnel data to understand how researchers and organizations discover us, where they drop off, and what we should improve

  • Support product launches with positioning, messaging, web updates, campaign execution, enablement materials, and other go-to-market needs

  • Contribute to content across formats including website copy, blog posts, customer stories, announcements, emails, and campaign creative

  • Work fluidly across Marketing, Product, Sales, Research, and Design, picking up high-impact work even when it falls outside a narrowly defined marketing specialty

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years as a versatile, hands-on marketer who’s worked in technology companies and enjoys working across multiple parts of the marketing stack

  • Strong in digital marketing, with meaningful experience building websites or landing pages and running paid acquisition campaigns

  • Comfortable working directly in web editing tools and able to turn a rough idea, message, or wireframe into a polished live experience

  • Experienced with platforms such as Google Ads and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, including targeting, experimentation, optimization, and performance measurement

  • Strong visual and creative instincts, with the ability to judge and produce effective layouts, campaign creative, and digital experiences

  • A capable writer and communicator who can make complex or technical ideas understandable, compelling, and concise

  • Analytical enough to troubleshoot funnels, attribution, CAC, conversion rates, and experiment results without needing a dedicated analytics team

  • Comfortable in an early-stage environment where priorities change, functions overlap, and the best person for an important problem is often simply the person willing and able to own it

What You’ll Get:

  • The opportunity to work on foundational problems at the intersection of AI and physics

  • A high-trust, low-bureaucracy environment with real ownership

  • Remote-first work with flexibility in how you structure your day

  • Exposure to cutting-edge ideas across AI, scientific discovery, and emerging technologies

  • A culture that values curiosity, depth of thinking, and first-principles reasoning

  • The chance to contribute to work aimed at advancing fundamental science
