Job description

About the role:

As an Associate Architect of our Engineering department, you will support the bridge between business needs and technical solutions on our eCommerce Platform: a React-based storefront running on Cloudflare Workers with a Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) backend. This is primarily a planning and technical guidance role, not a hands-on developer role - you'll spend most of your time on architecture, technical direction, and proof-of-concept/draft work, while delegating implementation to developers and AI agents, and overseeing execution. Reporting to the Lead Architect, who will provide direct mentorship, with additional guidance from the Director of Engineering and other senior technical voices, you will contribute technical perspectives and recommendations, help translate business requirements into system designs, and grow into a fuller architecture role. This is an ideal role for an experienced SFCC developer looking to make the move into architecture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support business partners by researching and preparing technical and process recommendations and project estimates, under the Lead Architect's guidance.
  • Translate business requirements into system requirements and design specifications, document requirements, and flag interface issues/concerns for review.
  • Write high-level code for proof-of-concepts, technical drafts, and architectural spikes to validate design direction, then guide and review the developers/agents who build it out.
  • Help establish technical standards, collaborate on design decisions, and participate in peer code/design reviews and knowledge-sharing.
  • Support third-party integrations (payments, CMS, search, analytics/CDP, benefits/CRM) with senior support as needed, and contribute to cross-functional platform work using SFCC, Cloudflare Workers, and React.
  • Work with technical teams to devise or modify processes to solve problems.
  • Build functional knowledge of B2C and B2B eCommerce processes.

What you'll need:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or related functional business area, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in SFCC.
  • At least 3 years of JavaScript, TypeScript, or equivalent experience, with a working understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with, or strong interest in, Cloudflare Workers and React.
  • Comfort working at a high level — producing POCs, drafts, and design specs — and delegating detailed implementation rather than owning full builds.
  • Experience with web analytics and CDP integrations (GA4/GTM, Segment or similar), and comfort writing SQL against a data warehouse (e.g., BigQuery).
  • Comfort designing within data-privacy constraints (healthcare-adjacent commerce and regulated data handling).
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, take initiative, and perform in a fast-paced, interactive team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible, team-oriented, self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn.

Preferred:

  • SFCC Developer certification (DiD/CIP), or willingness to obtain within a defined period.
  • Exposure to B2B, B2C, or multi-site SFCC eCommerce implementations.
  • Experience with headless/composable SFCC (SCAPI, SLAS, PWA Kit or similar) and hybrid storefront architectures.
  • Familiarity with edge storage and compute primitives (KV, D1, Durable Objects, Queues).
  • Some experience with XML data import/export activities.
