Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Biopharma and Population Products owns the definition, launch and growth of offerings sold to biopharmaceutical sponsors and population health buyers rather than to the treating clinician. Scope includes data insights for biopharma, newborn screening, and population genomics programs that drive broader adoption of whole genome sequencing.

The role builds programs and partnerships with health systems, academic medical centers, concierge networks, state programs and drug developers, and is responsible for what is offered, what is reported, how it is priced and how it is delivered.

Success is measured by programs launched, sponsor and health system commitments secured, and inbound demand converted into defined, repeatable offerings.

This role may evolve as organizational needs change.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and own the product strategy and roadmap for biopharma and population genomics offerings, prioritizing against evidenced demand, deliverability and commercial return.
  • Develop offerings for biopharmaceutical sponsors, including sponsored testing, patient identification for clinical trials, and testing that supports trial conduct and monitoring.
  • Define population screening offerings for health systems, academic medical centers and state programs, including the reportable content appropriate to each population.
  • Own product definition end to end: clinical positioning, reportable gene content, pricing, delivery workflow and turnaround commitments.
  • Conduct market and customer discovery with sponsors, health systems and patient organizations, and translate findings into product decisions and requirements.
  • Partner with Business Development on commercial execution, Medical Affairs on clinical and scientific positioning, and Laboratory Operations on deliverability and capacity.
  • Work with Genomic Technology, Legal and Compliance to ensure offerings are technically and contractually deliverable, including data use and consent terms in partner agreements.
  • Transition offerings that mature into catalog tests ordered by treating clinicians to the core product portfolio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a life sciences, engineering, computer science or related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of product or program management experience, including at least 5 years developing genomic or diagnostic offerings for biopharmaceutical or population health buyers.
  • Demonstrated commercial performance, including programs taken from definition to launch and revenue.
  • Experience contracting or partnering with pharmaceutical sponsors, health systems or public health programs.
  • Working knowledge of clinical genomic testing, reporting practice and the associated regulatory environment.
  • Minimum: 12 years of product management domain experience, including at least 5 years developing and commercializing data, software or informatics products; oversees multiple functions or one large function.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in genetics, genomics, public health or a related discipline. Board certified genetic counselor considered favorably.
  • Experience in rare disease, newborn screening or population genomics programs.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial operations, patient recruitment or companion diagnostics.
  • Experience working with state or federal public health programs.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong commercial judgment, including the ability to size an opportunity and defend the basis for that estimate.
  • Clear product definition for offerings that must satisfy a buyer, a clinician and a laboratory at once.
  • Credible in front of external partners, including clinical and scientific leadership at academic institutions and drug developers.
  • Effective influence without authority across commercial, medical, technology and laboratory functions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to convert early interest into a defined offering.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Location: Remote
  • Prolonged periods of computer and video conference work. No lifting requirement beyond normal office equipment.
  • Standard office or home office environment. No laboratory exposure.
  • Travel Requirements: approximately 20 to 30 percent, including sponsor, health system and conference attendance, and periodic time in Houston.
  • Occasional work outside standard hours to accommodate partners in other time zones.
