Job description

ScaleOps is redefining autonomous cloud and AI infrastructure. We're on a mission to free DevOps and platform engineers from manual resource management so they can focus on innovation, not tuning resources. The results: maximized performance and a reduction of cloud costs by up to 80%.

As the category leader in Autonomous Cloud and AI Infrastructure Resource Management, we're trusted by leading enterprises including Adobe, Wiz, Epic Games, Northwestern Mutual, Coinbase, DocuSign, and Fortune 100 companies to autonomously manage their most critical production environments.

Backed by Insight Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and other leading VCs with over $210M in funding, ScaleOps is the leading player in a massive and growing market. We are building the autonomous infrastructure management platform that will power the next decade of enterprise compute.

What You'll Be Doing

As Head of Legal, you will own every legal matter at ScaleOps. You will be the first legal hire in the US, working closely with our GTM, Finance and Executive teams, and reporting directly to the VP of Finance. This is a high-ownership, high-velocity role for someone who wants to build a modern legal function from the ground up — one that uses AI aggressively to move at the speed of the business.

  • Own the day-to-day contract lifecycle: MSAs, order forms, NDAs, partner agreements, reseller and marketplace contracts (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Partner with Sales leadership and AEs directly on live deals — turn redlines around fast, unblock deals, and coach reps on what we can and cannot accept.
  • Build and continuously improve our contract playbooks, fallback positions, and self-serve tooling so the sales team can move without waiting on Legal for every clause.
  • Manage outside counsel efficiently across jurisdictions.
  • Lead legal work streams for future financing rounds — term sheets, definitive docs, diligence, cap table, and board matters.
  • Run legal diligence, negotiation, and integration for acquisitions as ScaleOps expands inorganically.
  • Own corporate governance, entity management, equity administration, and board materials in partnership with the VP of Finance.
  • Own the legal side of our privacy and data protection program (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, ISO 27001) in partnership with the Security team.
  • Handle employment law matters across the US and international entities in coordination with People Ops.
  • Manage IP strategy — trademarks, open source policy, and protection of ScaleOps IP.
  • Design the ScaleOps legal function to be AI-native from day one. You will build workflows where AI drafts, reviews, and redlines the first pass on the majority of routine contracts.
  • Evaluate, deploy, and continuously improve AI tools for contract review, diligence, research, and knowledge management.
  • Publish internal playbooks and prompts so that AEs, SEs, and Finance can self-serve on standard legal questions.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, ideally combining top-tier law firm training with in-house experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS or infrastructure company.
  • Deep commercial contracting experience — you have negotiated hundreds of enterprise SaaS MSAs, DPAs, and order forms with Fortune 500 procurement and legal teams.
  • Direct experience running legal workstreams on venture financings (Series B and beyond) and at least one M&A transaction (buy-side or sell-side).
  • Strong grounding in US privacy and data protection law (GDPR, CCPA), SOC 2, and enterprise security requirements.
  • AI-first mindset — this is non-negotiable. You have already implemented AI tools (Harvey, Ironclad AI, Spellbook, Claude, custom LLM workflows, or equivalents) inside a legal function, and you can point to concrete examples of workflows you re-architected around AI.
  • Excellent commercial judgment — you know when to push, when to concede, and when to pick up the phone instead of sending a redline.
  • Comfort operating as a business partner, not a gatekeeper. You default to "yes, and here's how" rather than "no."
  • Willingness to work across US and Israel time zones and travel to Tel Aviv as needed.
