Job description

ABOUT TEAM4TECH

Team4Tech (www.team4tech.org) envisions a world where all learners have equitable access to quality education for improved socioeconomic mobility. We advance this mission by serving as an impact accelerator for community-based education NGOs in low income communities, providing them with technical, pedagogical and operational support to help them build the durable skills their learners need for future employability. Over the past 14 years, we have supported more than 1,400 NGOs in 110 countries, improving learning opportunities and developing durable skills for 60M under-resourced learners.

Team4Tech’s accelerator programming contributes to UN SDG 4 - to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Using evidence-based practices that promote education for employability, our accelerator programming, co-designed with community-based and education-focused NGOs operating in low-resource environments, includes:

  • A robust, global online Community of Practice (CoP) to engage with free education and technology tools, workshops, certification courses, learning cohorts, and other resources;
  • Facilitated regional hubs (in Africa, South Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the USA & Canada) for localized knowledge sharing and collaboration;
  • Access to skilled volunteers and educational resource partners to deliver pro bono capacity-building projects; and
  • Access to funding, amplification, and coaching to further promote NGO sustainability.

The rapid evolution of generative AI brings a new opportunity for personalized adaptive learning at scale for learners in under-resourced contexts around the world. Team4Tech is building upon the technical and pedagogical foundations we have helped develop with NGOs globally to now develop their capacity to use AI to enhance their education programs. Over the past two years, we have become the leading AI accelerator for education NGOs in low income contexts by delivering GenAI capacity building training cohorts for 80+ NGOs in more than 20 countries.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Africa Regional Hub Lead must bring a combination of experience leading complex teams and initiatives, including direct management of senior program staff; in-depth understanding of the edtech and employment space in Africa; the ability to think strategically, link regional work to global trends, and expand Team4Tech's thought leadership on the continent; and the gravitas to represent the organization externally at high-level regional and global fora.

Specifically, the Africa Regional Hub Lead will:

Provide overall leadership of the Hub

  • Serve as the decision-maker on regional priorities, resource allocation, and program direction
  • Ensure coherence and integration across all Hub workstreams
  • Report on Hub performance, risks, and priorities to organizational leadership and the board as needed

Define and drive a cutting-edge regional strategy and translate the strategy effectively into annual workplanning

  • Develop Team4Tech’s multi-year regional strategy aligned to organizational goals and grounded in emerging trends in African edtech, employment, and workforce development
  • Translate global organizational strategy into regionally relevant priorities, and ensure regional learning informs global strategy in return
  • Define the Africa region’s annual workplan priorities based on the overall strategy and effectively utilize Team4Tech’s program management tools to ensure on-time delivery of workplan requirements

Build a cohesive, motivated, and high-performing regional team with clear expectations, responsibilities, coordination and communication structures, and deliverables

  • Directly manage all regional hub staff and contractors, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development support
  • Establish clear roles, workflows, meeting cadences, communication norms, and timekeeping practices across the regional team to ensure accountability and reduce duplication
  • Foster a strong team culture that supports collaboration, accountability, staff retention, and alignment with organizational values

Serve as the organization's senior representative with Ministries of Education and other key external stakeholders

  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with Ministries of Education, donors, sector networks, and private-sector partners across target countries
  • Represent Team4Tech at regional and global convenings, conferences, and policy forums
  • Support negotiations, MoUs, and partnership agreements as required for the programs in the Africa region

Ensure all programmatic activities are delivered on time, to a high standard of quality, and grounded in the evidence base

  • Set and implement quality standards across program design, facilitation, and materials, in line with organizational best practices
  • Ensure program decisions and adjustments are informed by evidence and data, drawing on regional M&E findings and organizational learning

Take on a substantial leadership and management role for special funded initiatives for the Africa region, including multi-country AI capacity development programming

  • Serve as the senior accountable lead for one or more discrete, funder-specific initiatives operating alongside core Hub programming, such as multi-country AI capacity development projects that involve cascade training activities with Ministries of Education
  • Directly manage initiative-specific staff, consultants, and/or country leads, ensuring delivery against funder timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements
  • Balance this dedicated initiative leadership with the broader Hub leadership responsibilities above, prioritizing across both portfolios and flagging resourcing conflicts to organizational leadership as needed

Act as a key contributor to organizational monitoring, evaluation, and research, and feed regional priorities and learning into the M&E system

  • Champion the strategic use of M&E data for regional decision-making, funder reporting, and organizational thought leadership, in partnership with the Regional Hub Director's operational M&E oversight
  • Identify regional research and evidence-building priorities, including opportunities for rigorous evaluation in collaboration with the M&E Working Group
  • Ensure lessons learned at the regional level are captured and shared across the organization to strengthen the broader evidence base

Position the Hub as a driver of organizational and sectoral thought leadership
