Job description

We are looking for a Junior to Mid-Level SharePoint & Power Platform Developer to support an active programme of Microsoft 365 projects.

The role will suit someone who already has a solid grounding in SharePoint and the Power Platform and is looking to build further experience working on practical business solutions.

You will be given individual tasks and requirements, with the expectation that you can work through the problem, build the solution, test it and present your work back to the project lead.

You do not need to be a senior developer or architect, but you should be technically capable and confident enough to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

SharePoint

  • Build and configure SharePoint Lists and Libraries
  • Configure SharePoint sites, views, columns and permissions
  • Use JSON to customise SharePoint Lists and Libraries
  • Make changes to existing SharePoint solutions
  • Troubleshoot configuration and functionality issues
  • Assist with the development and improvement of SharePoint-based solutions

Power Automate

  • Build and maintain Power Automate flows
  • Automate business processes using Microsoft Power Automate
  • Work with triggers, actions, conditions and approvals
  • Troubleshoot failed or incorrectly configured flows
  • Test workflows and make improvements where required
  • Document workflow logic and processes

Power Apps

  • Assist with the development of simple Power Apps
  • Modify and maintain existing applications
  • Connect applications to SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 services
  • Troubleshoot basic Power Apps issues
  • Develop your knowledge of the wider Power Platform

Project Work

You will work on live projects and will generally be given a requirement or individual piece of work to complete.

You will be expected to:

  • Understand the requirement
  • Identify an appropriate solution
  • Complete the build or configuration
  • Test your work
  • Raise questions where something is unclear
  • Demonstrate completed work to the project lead
  • Take feedback and make amendments where necessary

Requirements

You should have practical experience with most of the following:

  • SharePoint Online
  • SharePoint Lists and Libraries
  • SharePoint JSON
  • Power Automate
  • Basic Power Apps
  • SharePoint configuration
  • SharePoint troubleshooting
  • Microsoft 365

We are open to candidates at the junior end of the market provided they have a good technical foundation and can demonstrate that they have actually worked with these technologies.

Formal qualifications are useful, but practical experience and the ability to demonstrate your work will be more important.

Power Automate Interview Requirement

Candidates will be asked to discuss a Power Automate Flow they have previously built.

A live demonstration is not required, but you should be able to explain:

  • What the Flow was designed to achieve
  • What triggered it
  • The main actions and logic used
  • Any conditions or approvals
  • How errors were handled
  • What systems or applications it connected with
  • Why you chose that particular approach

We are interested in how you approach a problem and build a solution, rather than simply seeing Power Automate listed on a CV.

Working Style

The role requires someone who is comfortable getting on with things.

You will receive direction and requirements from the project lead, but you will not be given a step-by-step set of instructions for every task. You should be comfortable researching an unfamiliar problem, testing different approaches and coming back with a sensible solution.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Curious and willing to learn
  • A good problem solver
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Well organised
  • Reliable and accountable
  • Comfortable receiving feedback
  • Able to explain their work clearly
  • Interested in developing their technical skills
