Job Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to help us grow our Advisory services. This position will serve as a relationship manager with a strong financial acumen and ability to communicate investment and balance sheet strategies to the client.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in fixed income, ALM, treasury, portfolio management, or a related depository-focused role
  • Demonstrated client-facing experience with financial institutions
  • Strong understanding of the financial institution business model and the role of the investment portfolio within broader balance sheet strategy

 

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of fixed income markets, securities, portfolio construction, and relative value analysis
  • Develop investment and reinvestment strategies aligned with client liquidity needs, interest rate risk, capital position, earnings objectives, and risk appetite
  • Evaluate portfolio cash flows, maturities, market conditions, and client balance sheet trends to identify proactive investment opportunities
  • Identify and communicate investment opportunities across a broad range of fixed income sectors appropriate for financial institutions
  • Partner effectively with the trading desk to evaluate securities, develop trade proposals, and support investment execution
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory and accounting considerations applicable to financial institution investment portfolios

 

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to lead investment discussions with financial institution executives
  • Ability to simplify complex investment strategies and market concepts for client understanding
  • Maintain and expand market knowledge to educate clients on economic conditions, interest rates, relative value, and emerging investment opportunities
  • Demonstrate independent judgment while collaborating effectively with Advisory Directors, traders, and other specialized teams
  • Proactively identify opportunities rather than relying solely on client-initiated investment activity

 

Relationship Management Skills:

  • Serve as the trusted investment advisor and primary portfolio strategy resource for assigned Premier clients
  • Partner with the Advisory Director to ensure investment recommendations align with the client's broader balance sheet strategy
  • Develop and communicate proactive portfolio recommendations based on client objectives, portfolio positioning, and changing market conditions
  • Educate clients on investment alternatives and guide them from strategy development through investment execution
  • Collaborate with internal specialized groups to deliver coordinated recommendations and a consistent client experience
  • Maintain ongoing client engagement and participate in broader strategic discussions when investment portfolio decisions affect the institution's balance sheet

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer and participating in virtual and in-person meetings.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and operating standard office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through video conferencing platforms.
  • Ability to read and analyze documents, presentations, reports, and electronic communications.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of materials up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to travel domestically, including navigating airports, hotels, client locations, and conference venues.

 

Work Environment:

  • Primarily performed in a professional office environment.
  • Regular use of computers, telephones, and other standard office equipment.
  • Position may require extended periods of screen time and repetitive motions associated with keyboard and mouse use.
  • Frequent interaction with clients, executive leadership teams, boards of directors, and colleagues in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Travel requirements of approximately 50% or more, including overnight travel for client meetings, conferences, speaking engagements, and business development activities.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and team members.
