What are your contributions to the team?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Adhere to Bombardier General Work Rules.
  • Participate in all legal activities.
  • Assist and/or lead the negotiation, drafting and/or review of various agreements
  • Provide legal counsel regarding US Federal laws and regulations
  • Support claims, HR issues and potentially litigious matters in conjunction with the Bombardier litigation team. 
  • Support US infrastructure and expansion projects.
  • Support the compliance team with US related compliance issues.
  • Be solicited by your clients regularly in order to provide legal guidance, advice and to ensure compliance with contracts and for legal interpretation of different contractual provisions.
  • Be relied upon to identify and anticipate contractual problems by ensuring efficient communication between your clients and other stakeholders,
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting Bombardier and provide practical guidance to business leaders
  • Serve as a key resource on complex and critical issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor degree (J.D.)
  • Admittance to at least one US State Bar.
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant experience in corporate law, commercial contracts and/or commercial litigation.
  • Leadership capabilities, ability to work autonomously, excellent legal and business acumen, ability to take quick decisions and provide strategic advice in a fast moving, dynamic environment.
  • Strong negotiation, drafting and communication skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize, assign, and coordinate work.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with legal department and non-legal department colleagues, as well as all levels of management.
  • Computer skills necessary to learn and/or operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and web-based applications

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

 

  • Demonstrated expertise in government contracts law, including FAR and DFARS,  with experience supporting Department of Defense programs and classified contracts.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, CMMC, NIST cybersecurity requirements, and other defense-sector regulatory frameworks.
  • Extensive experience negotiating and advising on complex commercial and government-related transactions.
  • Strong understanding of the federal procurement process and contractual frameworks.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of agreements, including aircraft purchase agreements, data license agreements, engineering service agreements, modification agreements.
  • Partner with compliance, export control, contracts, and business teams to ensure adherence to applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Counsel stakeholders on matters involving, cybersecurity obligations, intellectual property, organizational conflicts of interest, and government ethics requirements.
  • Support the Contracts team and other business stakeholders through the tender and program execution contract lifecycle.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advise on contractual rights, obligations, claims, disputes, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Engage with outside counsel as required.
  • Experience with bid protests, contract claims, investigations, or government audits is an asset.
