Job description

About Us

At BGBx, we're driven by a simple idea: breakthrough thinking creates breakthrough impact. As an independent commercial solutions partner to pharmaceutical and life science companies, we bring together strategists, scientists, communicators, creatives, technologists, and data experts to tackle some of healthcare's most important challenges.

Our teams work across consulting and communications to help clients shape strategy, launch innovations, engage stakeholders, and drive meaningful results throughout the product lifecycle. The work is complex, fast-moving, and deeply connected to improving lives, creating opportunities for curious minds to make a real difference every day.

If you're energized by collaboration, inspired by innovation, and motivated by work that matters, you'll find a place to grow, contribute, and make a  meaningful impact at BGBx.

Kx, a BGBx Consulting team, provides strategic support to executives at leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Consultants at Kx are critical members of every project team, helping clients solve complex business challenges by applying rigorous analytical thinking, scientific expertise, and structured problem-solving. Consultants support engagements by managing the research and fact-gathering process, analyzing and synthesizing findings, and developing strategic recommendations for clients.

This opportunity is designed for graduating PhD candidates interested in applying their research training to strategy consulting. At Kx, you'll work alongside experienced consultants in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment where you'll quickly develop consulting skills while making meaningful contributions to client engagements from day one. Consultants also serve as coaches and mentors to Associate Consultants, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.

This position is hybrid in one of our U.S. offices: Washington, D.C., New York City, or Boston.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a mentor and coach to small teams of Associate Consultants, supporting their professional development and research execution.
  • Act as a direct resource for clients throughout engagements by facilitating and leading portions of client meetings, depending on project needs.
  • Apply qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques, hypothesis-driven thinking, and structured problem-solving to distill complex research into actionable business recommendations.
  • Develop clinical and commercial assessments by identifying and evaluating insights from primary and secondary research sources.
  • Monitor and assess clinical, regulatory, and competitive landscapes, including clinical trials, scientific literature, conference presentations, and industry developments.
  • Develop clear, compelling client deliverables that communicate complex scientific and business insights to executive audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams while receiving mentorship and support from experienced consultants and firm leadership throughout each engagement.

Qualifications:

  • PhD (or expected completion prior to start date), MD, PharmD, MBA, or BA/BS/MS degree with 1–3 years of experience in life sciences strategy consulting or the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex scientific or business information and draw accurate, logical conclusions through research and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience leading research projects, cross-functional initiatives, or small teams in academic or professional settings.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex concepts and findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, collaborate with, and support colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
  • Creative, "big picture" thinking while maintaining keen attention to detail.
  • Intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a strong interest in applying scientific expertise to strategic business challenges in the life sciences industry.

Salary range: $118,000 base plus bonus eligible.
