Job description

The Director, Software Engineering role is responsible for leading the development and deployment of Outseer products in alignment with our Product roadmap. This key leadership role provides strategic and operational leadership in the design and development of our company's applications. They must work closely with the business to effectively translate product strategy and objectives into technological capability, while delivering on architecture, design, and execution to deliver capabilities in a predicable timeline with high quality and scalability.


Our Director of Software Engineering plays a pivotal role in driving the development, implementation, and maintenance of high-quality software solutions across Outseer’s product portfolio. This includes a strong focus on the fraud detection engineering domain, where the ability to innovate and engineer solutions to combat financial crime is critical. The Director will also be responsible for deriving and optimizing engineering KPIs, fostering agility, and managing teams through potentially disruptive changes.


They will lead and mentor a team of skilled software engineers distributed across various geographical locations, and will be responsible for driving engineering excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional software products on time and within budget.


Essential Duties


Technical Experience

  • Transformative Engineering Leadership : Leads organizational, cultural, and operational change without losing delivery momentum. Aligns teams around strategy, develops leaders, and converts transformation into measurable business outcomes, driving innovation and long-term improvement.
  • Operational Excellence and Engineering Accountability: Balances innovation, customer commitments, technical debt, and operational stability. Establishes strong reliability practices and uses outcome-based KPIs to improve delivery, productivity, quality, and customer impact.
  • Architecture, Scalability, and Cloud Modernization: Sets architectural direction that balances scalability, security, maintainability, and business value. Leads the evolution of complex on-premises, cloud, and SaaS platforms while managing risk and technical debt.
  • Secure Software Delivery and SDLC Excellence: Builds a secure, automated SDLC spanning CI/CD, testing, release management, vulnerability management, and compliance. Improves delivery speed without compromising quality, security, or stability.
  • Technical Credibility and AI-Enabled Engineering: Earns engineering trust through technical depth and sound judgment. Evaluates technologies and vendors while leading the strategy, responsible adoption, and effective use of AI across the software development lifecycle.


Nice to Have

  • Fraud Product Engineering: Demonstrated success in developing real-time systems within the fraud domain, delivering fast, accurate detection and prevention solutions.
  • Data Science: Familiarity with data science, AI, and machine learning concepts, leveraging these technologies to drive insights and automation.
  • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework): Knowledge of the SAFe methodology, which enables large organizations to scale agile practices for better alignment, collaboration, and delivery across multiple teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
  • Proven experience in fraud detection engineering or a related field, with a deep understanding of how to engineer real time solutions that mitigate fraud.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of software engineers.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving continuous improvement.
  • Experience with agile & SAFe development methodologies and modern software development practices.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with various software development technologies, frameworks, and programming languages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to achieving objectives.
  • Effective communicator to act as an advisor to senior leadership and partners.
