Job description

ERG is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, and execution of facility and infrastructure projects. This position will work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to develop design solutions that meet project requirements and applicable codes while supporting projects from initial assessment and design through construction and completion.

This will be a full-time position without a set office location; however, candidates must be in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area to attend frequent (at least weekly) on-site client and team meetings. The position will include interaction and support from ERG personnel in various locations, including Arlington, VA, and Indian Head, MD. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. 


Job Description:
  • Support the planning, design, and engineering of facility and site improvement projects
  • Develop and review civil engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and technical documents
  • Assist with the design of site layouts, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, paving, and other civil infrastructure
  • Prepare engineering calculations, cost estimates, technical reports, and design documentation
  • Review contractor submittals, design documents, and construction plans for compliance with project requirements
  • Assist with evaluating existing facilities and developing recommendations for repairs, renovations, upgrades, and modernization

  • Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience developing or reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
  • Familiarity with civil/site design principles, including grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, and site development
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (college transcripts required) for candidates with less than 2 years of professional experience
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations

  • Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • 2+ years of civil engineering experience in facility, site, infrastructure, or building-related projects
  • Experience supporting federal, military, or DoD facility projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Experience with federal design standards, UFCs, UFGS, or other DoD criteria
