Job description

Verian is an independent research, evidence, evaluation, and communications agency that helps governments solve public policy challenges by working with citizens and the public realm.

We provide services to government and public sector organizations, drawing on expertise in social research, policy development, and communication.

The agency operates globally, with offices across Europe, Asia Pacific, and the US.

About the role

Survey scripter (Forsta Plus / Confirmit)

· Remote (EU) · 12-month service contract, with intention to extend

Why this role is different

Verian runs some of the largest and most complex survey programmes in Europe - for EU institutions, national governments of the UK and EU Member States, national statistical offices, and other national and regional public bodies. The surveys you help build will directly inform public policy decisions across the continent.

The core of the role is the craft itself: building and testing surveys that work reliably, in a fast-paced delivery environment where accuracy and quality matter every day. At the same time, Verian is investing heavily in automation and AI-assisted approaches to survey scripting, and you will be part of that journey from the start - working alongside the engineers building these solutions, and learning skills in automation and AI-assisted workflows that very few scripting roles anywhere can offer.

What you will do

  • Script and test surveys in Forsta Plus / Confirmit across CAWI, CATI, CAPI and mixed-mode studies
  • Implement routing logic, conditions, loops, validations and quota structures from specifications
  • Support multi-language setup, translation loading and testing
  • Apply HTML/CSS and basic JavaScript using existing templates and guidance
  • Carry out testing and quality assurance, and support projects during live fieldwork
  • Work with our automation engineers, learning and applying AI-assisted scripting approaches as they are rolled out

What you need from day one

  • Hands-on experience building surveys or comparable logic-driven work - Forsta Plus / Confirmit experience is ideal, but we will also seriously consider candidates coming from other survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics, Decipher, Nfield, Askia, Voxco) or from adjacent backgrounds such as web development or data work, provided you can demonstrate strong logical thinking and attention to detail
  • Basic familiarity with HTML/CSS; some exposure to JavaScript is a plus
  • Genuine care for accuracy and quality - surveys must simply work
  • Professional working proficiency in English. Knowledge of German and/or French would be an advantage

What will strengthen your application (not required - we will teach you)

  • Interest in AI-assisted coding tools, automation or Python/R
  • Experience with multi-language or multi-market studies
  • Understanding of survey data structures

If you are coming from another platform or an adjacent field, expect a structured learning path: we will train you in Forsta Plus / Confirmit and in our automated workflows, with direct mentoring from senior scripters.

What we offer

  • Indicative rate of €2,000–3,000 per month - the final offer will be agreed based on your specific skills and experience
  • Full-time engagement on an initial 12-month service contract (independent contractor or affiliate arrangement), with the intention to extend
  • Fully remote, based anywhere in the EU
  • A place in Verian's global Data Solutions team, reporting to a global manager in London, working on large assignments alongside project managers across Europe
  • Hands-on exposure to AI-assisted and automated survey development - a skill set that will define this profession over the coming years

The process - quick and simple

One introductory call, which will also cover the technical side; potentially a small practical task; then a fast decision. The work is available now and waiting - we will come back to you immediately, so if this sounds interesting, please get in touch as soon as you can.

Compensation: 2,000–3,000
