Position Summary

The Technical Accounting Manager is a key member of the Controller organization, responsible for evaluating and establishing the company’s position on complex accounting matters. This role partners closely with executive leadership, auditors, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and scalable financial reporting.

The position is highly project-driven and offers significant exposure to strategic initiatives, including M&A transactions, policy development, and evolving accounting standards. The position has one direct report, along with access to shared staff resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret new and evolving accounting standards, assessing their impact on the organization and leading implementation efforts
  • Develop and formally document the company’s position on complex technical accounting issues, including preparation of supporting memoranda
  • Present technical accounting conclusions to senior leadership, external auditors, and other key stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary accounting lead for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions
  • Own and continuously refine the company’s global accounting policies to ensure consistency and compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Act as a key internal consultant to cross-functional teams, including Tax, FP&A, and General Ledger, on technical accounting matters
  • Oversee accounting for complex areas such as stock-based compensation and lease accounting, including related process improvements
  • Partner with financial reporting teams to ensure accurate and timely issuance of GAAP-compliant financial statements across global entities
  • Support audit processes by coordinating technical accounting positions and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Drive process improvements and scalability initiatives within technical accounting and broader controllership functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience with complex accounting topics (e.g., equity, leases, M&A)
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and resolve unstructured accounting issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range: $130,000-$170,000 per year

Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
