What you’ll do

The AVP of Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Engineering Governance leads a team of IT Architects and Engineers responsible for:

  • Guiding decision rights and establishing and optimizing the necessary processes, policies, and procedures to ensure successful execution of investment decisions aligned with the business strategy.
  • Offering implementation accelerators while driving quality within the platforms and portfolio teams.

This role focuses on EA process ownership, assurance to ensure compliance with agreed-upon viewpoints, principles, and standards – and promoting Engineering Quality principles and accelerators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own New Technology Assessment (NTA) process: Operationalize and Optimize how IT make risk-based investments decisions on technology (new technologies, renewal, new capabilities, expansions) in the shortest possible turnaround time.
  • Drive Application and Technology Portfolio Management Practice: Generate key insights from our tooling (e.g., LeanIX) and data to drive strategic management and ensure our functional and technical portfolios are rationalized, optimized, and enhancing overall IT performance.
  • Drive Adoption of Built-in Quality: Promote ways to increase adherence to Non-Functional requirements to reduce risks, increase compliance, and accelerate product maturity (e.g., NFR tools, Well-Architected Reviews).
  • Drive EA Assurance: Implement a formal process to review new and ongoing standards, ensuring compliance with defined guidance, policies, and principles.
  • Align EA Governance: Integrate EA governance with other IT and corporate governance processes to align strategy, investments, performance, resources, risk, and innovation.
  • Support Decision-Making: Democratize the EA governance process to support distributed and architecturally significant decisions at speed.
  • Lead Architecture Review Forums: Facilitate Architecture Review and decision forums to ensure coherent strategy execution.
  • Communicate and Reinforce Processes: Periodically communicate changes and reinforce processes within the IT organization to increase adherence.
  • Collaborate with Business of IT Solution Delivery: Work with the Business of IT solution delivery group to prioritize epics and features on EA tools to advance EA practice maturity, gather feedback on EA processes (e.g., NFRs), and optimize them (e.g., NTA due diligence groups)
  • Generate Insights: Analyze the global application and technology portfolio to inform senior leadership about trends and opportunities.
  • Assess EA Maturity: Evaluate overall EA maturity and identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the EA practice.

What you’ll need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Experience: 8-12 years of experience managing teams, experience in guiding teams in a product-oriented operating model.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Cloud, Big Data, AI technologies, and their strategic application in business.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor teams and enhance overall capabilities.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to articulate the technical vision and strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with teammates, leadership, senior management, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with technical teams, for example Product Development team and Infrastructure team.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as TOGAF or similar architectural frameworks, or ITIL.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to leverage emerging technologies for business advantage.
  • Agile Mindset: Familiarity with SAFe or other Agile frameworks, and a strong belief in Lean-Agile principles.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align architectural plans with business goals.
