Job description

We are looking for a Python Developer (Mid to Senior) to join our engineering team and contribute to the design, development, and evolution of our cybersecurity platform and its supporting services. You will build robust backend services, data processing pipelines, and integrations with security tooling (vulnerability scanners, threat intelligence feeds, SIEM platforms), working closely with security researchers, product owners, and fellow engineers.

This role can be based in Athens on a hybrid model or fully remote from Switzerland, with occasional travel for team meetings and project events.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs in Python
  • Build and optimize data ingestion, normalization, and correlation pipelines for security data (e.g., CVE/CPE feeds, scan results, telemetry)
  • Integrate third-party security tools and external data sources into the platform via REST APIs, message queues, and connectors
  • Contribute to the architecture and technical design of new features, from proof-of-concept to production
  • Write clean, well-documented, and well-tested code, and participate in code reviews
  • Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL) — schema design, query optimization, and data modeling
  • Containerize and deploy services using Docker; contribute to CI/CD pipelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (security analysts, frontend engineers, DevOps, research) in an agile environment
  • Mentor junior developers and help raise the engineering bar across the team (senior level)
  • Optionally contribute to EU-funded research and innovation projects, including prototyping and technical reporting

Requirements

Must-have

  • 3+ years (mid) / 5+ years (senior) of professional software development experience with Python as your primary language
  • Strong experience building RESTful APIs with frameworks such as Django
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (ideally PostgreSQL) and ORMs (e.g., SQLAlchemy)
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised deployments
  • Experience with asynchronous programming, background task processing (e.g., Celery, asyncio), and message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis)
  • Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows (branching, pull requests, CI/CD)
  • Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals: testing (pytest), clean architecture, design patterns, and secure coding practices
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or OVH/self-hosted environments) and infrastructure-as-code
  • Exposure to Kubernetes or other orchestration platforms

Benefits

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and location
  • Flexible working arrangements: hybrid in Athens or fully remote in Switzerland
  • The opportunity to work on a modern cybersecurity product with real impact on critical infrastructure and regulated industries
  • Involvement in European research and innovation projects alongside academic and industry partners
  • A collaborative, low-bureaucracy engineering culture with room to own features end-to-end
  • Continuous learning: conference participation, training budget, and certification support
  • Modern tech stack and tooling
