Mid-Level Web Engineer – React

SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Mid-Level Web Engineer with strong React and Node.js experience to join an engineering team focused on Performance Marketing, Growth and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO).

The team builds the technology that supports Organic Search and Growth initiatives, helping ensure content is discoverable and cited across both traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven search experiences, including Google Search, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode.

You will work on scalable web solutions that impact thousands of pages, including content scaling, structured data and page architecture. You will collaborate closely with engineers as well as Growth and SEO teams, contributing not only to development but also to improving the processes behind how content and web experiences are delivered at scale.

We are looking for someone who combines strong web engineering fundamentals with curiosity, good communication skills and a proactive approach to solving problems.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING:

You will join our engineering team and become a valued member, working closely in a collaborative, autonomous, and cross-functional team. You will help with the following:

• Build and develop scalable web applications and pages using React and Node.js;
• Develop solutions that support Organic Search, Growth and GEO initiatives across thousands of web pages;
• Work on page architecture, content scaling and structured data implementations;
• Maintain, improve and troubleshoot existing web applications and websites;
• Collaborate closely with engineering, Growth, SEO and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions;
• Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving visibility across traditional search engines and AI-driven search platforms;
• Work with Content Management Systems and content-driven web experiences;
• Develop and consume APIs and integrate services where required;
• Test solutions across different browsers and devices and identify technical issues;
• Use Git-based source control and modern development workflows;
• Contribute ideas for improving applications, development processes and the way the team delivers solutions at scale;
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions and project planning;
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver high-quality solutions within agreed timelines.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any related technical field.
• Strong professional experience in modern web development;
• Strong proficiency in React.js and its core principles;
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and experience building or supporting server-side web applications and services;
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3;
• Experience building maintainable, scalable and reusable web solutions;
• Good understanding of modern frontend development practices, tooling and build processes;
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and integrating frontend and backend services;
• Good understanding of Git and collaborative software development workflows;
• Experience implementing responsive and cross-browser web solutions;
• Ability to write clean, maintainable and well-structured code;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• A curious and proactive mindset, with the confidence to investigate problems and suggest improvements;
• Comfortable working on process-related initiatives alongside core software development;
• Experience working within Agile and cross-functional teams;
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

AWESOME BUT NOT REQUIRED:

• Previous experience working within SEO, Growth Engineering or Performance Marketing teams;
• Understanding of Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and how AI-driven search is changing content discovery;
• Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS);
• Experience with Umbraco or similar CMS platforms;
• Knowledge of structured data, schema markup and search-engine optimisation;
• Experience developing large-scale, content-heavy websites or platforms with thousands of pages;
• Familiarity with optimising web architecture and content for both traditional search engines and AI-driven search experiences.
