About PUM 

PUM is a unique NGO committed to making a positive impact on a global scale. With a network of 1,200 skilled voluntary experts, we collaborate with ambitious entrepreneurs in 26 countries and 12 programmes, sharing expertise to strengthen business ecosystems and create economic, social, and environmental value. We work closely with small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the organisations that support them. Who are you?

• You are a strategic, hands-on management consultant with analytical insight and the ability to translate complex issues into practical plans. We currently only look for expertise in:

  1. Business analysis and implementation (pre-SME’s).

  2. Change management (Boardroom and senior management).

  3. Working at a strategic level in various sectors/countries (Africa is a pre).

  4. Training and development (Boardroom and senior management).

• You are familiar with artificial intelligence (AI) and digital tools.

• You are available to participate in remote advice projects.

• You have good command of English, French and/or Spanish (spoken and written).

• You are a natural advisor and sparring partner, enjoy coaching others and supporting teams in various contexts.

• You are passionate about knowledge development, continuously improving your own expertise, and sharing it with colleagues and clients.

• You are authentic, resilient, modest, and dynamic, and able to address cultural differences with equality and respect.

The role

Your application is for a place in our pool of experts within one of our programmes, not for a specific project. Once you've joined, you will be matched with up to three projects per year, either on location or remotely. Around one in three projects will be delivered as remote advice, though working solely on remote advisory projects is also possible.
On location, you’ll spend two weeks on-site with the client. PUM covers your flight and visa, while the client takes care of your accommodation, meals, and local transportation. You will also receive an expense allowance.
As PUM expert you not only share knowledge, you also:

• Empower entrepreneurs, co-piloting their journey toward sustainable and inclusive business development;

• leave a lasting impact on the community: socially, environmentally, and economically;

• turn your knowledge into a hands-on project plan;

• expand your horizons at sector days and building a network that’s as diverse as it gets.

Please note: Based on your specific background in management consultancy, you will be placed as an expert within one of our programmes in the Food or Non-Food themes. You can find an overview of all our programmes here.

Eligibility and Requirements

The expert role is a voluntary position. You can apply up to and including the calendar year in which you turn 69.PUM engages experts who reside in the Netherlands, are registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP), and have Dutch basic health insurance.
