Job Description

SED Hub is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic science explainer to join our team. The Science Explainer will be responsible for creating engaging and informative science content for our online platform. The successful candidate will be a creative individual who is able to translate complex scientific concepts into easy-to-understand language for a wide range of audiences. This is a remote position, and requires a reliable and organized individual who is comfortable using digital tools to create and publish content.

Responsibilities:

1. Research and write engaging and informative science articles and videos for our online platform.

2. Create visual aids and animations to help explain complex scientific concepts.

3. Collaborate with the HR Manager and other SED Hub staff to ensure that content is aligned with organizational goals and objectives.

4. Stay up-to-date with the latest scientific research and advancements.

5. Respond to reader and viewer inquiries and engage with the SED Hub community through comments and discussion forums.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, such as biology, physics, or chemistry.

2. At least 3 years of experience in science communication, either in a professional or volunteer setting.

3. Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into easy-to-understand language.

4. Ability to create visual aids and animations using digital tools.

5. Proficient in using content management systems and digital publishing tools.

6. Passion for science and a commitment to improving public understanding of science.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, such as biology, physics, or chemistry. A postgraduate degree in science or science communication may also be an advantage.

At least 3 years of experience in science communication, either in a professional or volunteer setting. This should include experience writing science articles, creating science videos or podcasts, or communicating science through other media.

Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into easy-to-understand language. The Science Explainer should be able to write for a variety of audiences, including those with little to no scientific background.

Ability to create visual aids and animations using digital tools. The Science Explainer should be familiar with graphic design software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, and video editing software, such as Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro.

Proficient in using content management systems and digital publishing tools. The Science Explainer should be comfortable using tools like WordPress, YouTube, and social media platforms to publish and promote content.

Passion for science and a commitment to improving public understanding of science. The Science Explainer should be enthusiastic about science and have a strong desire to share their knowledge with others.
