Marine Field Service Technician

Work Location: Remote, home base Harahan, LA

Salary Range: $40.00 - $45.00+ per hour (based on experience)+ an additional $1.50 when working in the field

Other Compensation: over-time available + per diem

Travel: Field Position, up to 75% travel

About the Role:

In this role, you will:

  • Work directly with marine clients, supporting our company’s continued growth.
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on MTU engines in various marine applications.
  • Conduct sea trials and verify engine performance, making necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain service records and documentation to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to apprentice marine technicians.
  • Travel within the assigned region and occasionally outside the area, including potential international assignments.


Required & Preferred Work Experience and Attributes:

We are looking for someone with:

  • 5+ years of experience in high speed marine engine repair
  • Marine Diesel Engine Mechanical Experience (ie: Cummings, CAT, John Deer, MTU, Detroit Diesel, Mitsubishi, MAN, Volvo Penta, Yanmar)
  • Experience with MTU MCS/RCS electronics and Diasys software (preferred).
  • MDEC or ADEC or DDEC experience (preferred)
  • ECU7, ECU8, ECU9 Software experience (preferred)
  • Experience with tools and technical diagnostics.
  • Strong laptop/PC skills for diagnostics and software applications.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and read service manuals.
  • A passion for working within a cross-functional team environment in a dynamic industry.

Other Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (technical schooling is a plus).
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to be insured.
  • Own set of mechanic tools.
  • Has a valid passport or the ability to get a passport.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card or the ability to obtain.
  • Ability to complete company-provided manufacturer training (online and in person).

Travel & Mobility:

  • Frequent travel within an assigned territory (AOR), with potential travel outside the region for weeks at a time.

Salary & Benefits:


Salary: $40.00 to $45.00+ per hour, based on skills and experience. Additional $1.50 per hour when working in the field.
