Position Title: MV Commissioning & Electrical Safety Manager
Department: LTSA Project Implementation and Services
Compensation: $130,000 - $170,000 + annual bonus
Reports To: Global Director, Service
Location: Canada


About the Role:

e-STORAGE is looking for an MV Commissioning & Electrical Safety Manager to lead a regional team of Senior Power Systems Technicians and oversee product-level commissioning across utility-scale battery energy storage projects in the Americas.

The role will support the safe commissioning, operation, and maintenance of SolBank systems, string inverters, MV Skids, and associated medium-voltage equipment. You will provide leadership around technician competency, MV switching and energization, isolation, grounding, LOTO, electrical safety procedures, and operational performance across Canada, the United States, and Latin America.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage a regional team of Senior Power Systems Technicians, including workload allocation, coaching, development, performance management, and technical support

  • Plan workforce and authorization coverage to ensure qualified personnel are available to support commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and operational requirements

  • Assess technician competency for MV/HV and product commissioning work and provide recommendations regarding training, qualification, and authorization

  • Establish and monitor team performance indicators related to safety compliance, commissioning throughput, and maintenance turnaround

  • Act as the escalation point for technical, operational, and electrical safety matters raised by field technicians

  • Oversee product-level commissioning of SolBank systems, string inverters, MV Skids, and associated electrical equipment

  • Develop, implement, and improve product commissioning procedures, testing practices, documentation, and sign-off requirements

  • Support equipment testing, startup, troubleshooting, energization, and turnover activities

  • Coordinate with site commissioning teams, which retain responsibility for the broader commissioning programme, grid compliance and testing, and client handover

  • Oversee MV switching activities, typically up to 34.5kV, where e-STORAGE holds or has been delegated control-of-work responsibility

  • Support safe isolation, grounding, LOTO, energization, de-energization, and switching practices

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including CSA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, and local utility requirements

  • Ability to travel to project sites across the Americas as required, particularly during commissioning, energization, switching activities, and major operational milestones


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extensive experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, typically up to 34.5kV, within utility-scale infrastructure, renewable energy, BESS, substations, power generation, or comparable environments

  • Demonstrated experience performing, supervising, or authorizing MV switching activities, including isolation, grounding, LOTO, energization, and safe work planning

  • Experience in commissioning and operational, maintenance, or field-service environments

  • Experience leading electrical technicians, commissioning personnel, field-service teams, or other technically qualified personnel

  • Strong understanding of North American electrical safety codes and standards, including CSA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, and local utility requirements

  • Experience supporting commissioning, energization, operations, maintenance, or field service activities for complex electrical systems

  • Experience developing or implementing electrical safety procedures, switching procedures, permits, risk assessments, method statements, or operating standards

  • Degree, diploma, trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering, power systems, electrical technology, or a related field
