Summary:

Credit part-time, adjunct faculty teaching positions in Electromechanical Instrumentation.

Work with the Director of Advanced and Industrial Technology, College staff, and adjunct faculty to instruct Electromechanical and Instrumentation Process Control technologies courses on or off-campus as needed.

Technical Skills for Electromechanical (dependent on courses taught):

  • Experience with reading and understanding of Process and Automation Diagrams (P&ID), and Technical drawings and specifications as they relate to industry.

  • Knowledge of the operation, diagnostics, repair, and modification of automation with an emphasis on advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic power components, systems, and assemblies found in industrial robotics, conveyors, CNC, packaging machinery, casing machinery, and plastics molding equipment

  • Knowledge of the operation and application of commonly used automated technology and instrumentation

  • Knowledge of the principles and function of the mechanical, used in automated equipment.

  • Experience with the proper use of common tools and measuring gauges used in automated systems.

  • Experience in the use of OSHA safety standards in servicing electromechanical equipment.

  • Knowledge of the concepts of electricity, electronics, and controls related to industrial applications such as industrial control devices and sensors; relays and electromechanical controls; electrical diagrams; transformers and power distribution; solid-state power devices; motors, starters, and drives; and AC/DC motor control.

  • Experience in industrial control systems that covers Allen-Bradly and Siemens programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and programmable automation controllers (PACs) operation, application, programming, and troubleshooting. PLC/PAC hardware identification, input/output (I/O), network communications, I/O wiring, I/O and internal addressing, tags, alias tags, and data types. software instruction sets including contacts, coils, timers, counters, data manipulation, comparison, and arithmetic as well as program control using subroutines and controller organization.

  • Knowledge of process control instrumentation including temperature and pressure instruments and sensors, basic transmission signals and communications, safety and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).  Experience with level and flow measurements and instruments, final elements such as valves, automatic and manual control and instrumentation and control applications is required.

Typical schedule is two days or nights per week, per semester. Will teach processes and safety as needed for any classes being taught. Responsibilities also include lab safety, lab clean up and material prep. Opportunities may be available at the Bethlehem, PA campus, Monroe campus located in Tannersville, PA and/or online.

Qualifications:

Three (3) years industry experience required. Teaching or training experience preferred. Some formal education/training strongly desired. College teaching experience preferred.

The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department and the College.
