The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting function for AHS and is responsible for the monthly close process, financial reporting, general ledger integrity, and financial compliance for all company entities. This position serves as a key accounting leader, exercising independent judgment in complex accounting matters, driving process improvements, strengthening internal controls, and providing financial insights to support organizational decision-making. The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director, Accounting and partners closely with finance and operational leaders across the organization.

You will focus on:

  • Oversees all aspects of the financial accounting process including general ledger maintenance, journal entry review, monthly close, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, and budget variance analysis for all AHS entities.

  • Responsible for the structure, hierarchy, and scalability of the chart of accounts and the accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements; serves as the final authority regarding the classification and recording of financial transactions.

  • Owns and leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, establishing timelines, identifying issues, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Reviews and analyzes complex accounting transactions and independently determines appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP.

  • Participates in the ongoing development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and operational strategies.

  • Identifies opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the scalability of financial operations through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assists in coordinating and administering the annual budgeting and forecasting process.

  • Evaluates accounting risks and develops recommendations to mitigate risk while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards.

  • Establishes, maintains, and monitors internal controls and accounting procedures designed to safeguard company assets, ensure financial accuracy, and prevent fraud.

  • Serves as the primary liaison for external auditors, coordinating audit activities, responding to requests, and resolving audit findings.

  • Partners with operational and executive leadership to provide meaningful financial analysis, identify trends, and support strategic business decision-making.

  • Evaluates accounting implications of new business initiatives, contracts, organizational changes, and strategic projects and makes recommendations to leadership regarding financial and operational impact.

  • Develops and monitors accounting performance metrics and key financial indicators to support departmental and organizational goals.

  • Leads special projects related to financial systems, reporting enhancements, process transformation, organizational growth initiatives, and finance-related implementations.

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and direction to accounting staff, establishing priorities, assigning work, and ensuring achievement of departmental objectives.

  • Supervises, coaches, mentors, and develops accounting team members; conducts performance evaluations and supports employee development and succession planning efforts.

  • Promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service within the accounting function.

  • Recommends staffing, organizational, and process improvements to support business growth and operational effectiveness.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership regarding accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and risk management matters.

  • Makes recommendations for changes as needed and ensures company policies and procedures are followed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field of study

  • 7+ years professional experience working in Accounting role, requiring use and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Demonstrated growth and success in comparable role

  • Management experience strongly preferred

The Base Salary for this position is $107,250 - $128,700/year

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
