Job description

Ecommerce Manager – Shopify, Paid Media, CRO & Retention

Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: AEST Business Hours

About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring an experienced Ecommerce Manager to own and grow the entire ecommerce engine for a fast-growing consumer brand.

This is not simply a paid media role. You’ll be responsible for performance across the full ecommerce customer journey — acquisition, conversion, retention, merchandising, and customer experience.

You’ll work hands-on across:

  • Shopify
  • Meta Ads
  • Google Ads
  • Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
  • Klaviyo
  • Ecommerce analytics
  • Creative performance
  • Technical SEO
  • Customer retention

Success will be measured by overall business outcomes including revenue growth, conversion rate, AOV, LTV, retention, ROAS, and CPA — not advertising metrics alone.

A dedicated creative team will produce design assets and content, but you’ll actively influence creative strategy by identifying winning messaging, customer motivations, and performance trends.

If you understand ecommerce as an interconnected growth system and know how to turn customer and performance data into measurable revenue growth, this role is a strong fit.

What You’ll Own

Ecommerce Growth & Store Performance

Own overall ecommerce performance and identify growth opportunities across the entire funnel.

You’ll:

  • Analyze acquisition, conversion, retention, merchandising, and customer experience.
  • Identify bottlenecks and opportunities using customer and performance data.
  • Develop initiatives to increase:
    • Revenue
    • Conversion Rate
    • Average Order Value (AOV)
    • Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)
    • Repeat Purchase Rate
  • Monitor customer behavior throughout the purchase journey.
  • Translate performance data into clear growth initiatives.
  • Present recommendations and opportunities directly to leadership.

Shopify Store Optimization & CRO

Take hands-on ownership of the Shopify storefront and conversion experience.

Optimize:

  • Product pages
  • Collection pages
  • Landing pages
  • Navigation
  • Merchandising
  • Mobile and desktop experiences
  • Cart and checkout flows

Develop and execute CRO initiatives involving:

  • Offers
  • Bundles
  • Upsells
  • Cross-sells
  • Product positioning
  • Purchase flows
  • Landing-page experiences

Use behavioral data to identify friction and improve the customer journey.

Implement theme-level Shopify improvements where appropriate and collaborate with developers on more advanced functionality or technical enhancements.

Paid Media – Meta & Google Ads

Own and optimize ecommerce acquisition across Meta Ads and Google Ads.

Manage:

  • Meta prospecting campaigns
  • Retargeting campaigns
  • Custom and lookalike audiences
  • Google Search
  • Google Shopping
  • Performance Max
  • Budget allocation and scaling

You’ll:

  • Build campaign structures and testing frameworks.
  • Monitor performance and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Scale profitable campaigns.
  • Improve ROAS and reduce CPA.
  • Upload and manage creative assets produced by the creative team.
  • Maintain accurate pixels, Conversion APIs, events, and attribution.
  • Allocate acquisition budgets based on overall business performance.

Creative Strategy & Performance

Use performance data to influence creative direction.

You’ll:

  • Analyze creative performance across advertising and onsite experiences.
  • Identify winning:
    • Hooks
    • Messaging
    • Offers
    • Customer pain points
    • Creative angles
  • Develop structured creative testing hypotheses.
  • Identify creative fatigue and new testing opportunities.
  • Provide clear, data-backed briefs and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with designers, copywriters, and content creators.

You are not expected to personally produce every creative asset, but you should understand why creative performs and what should be tested next.

Klaviyo, Lifecycle & Retention Marketing

Own the performance and optimization of customer retention programs within Klaviyo.

Manage and improve:

  • Welcome series
  • Abandoned cart flows
  • Browse abandonment
  • Post-purchase sequences
  • Win-back campaigns
  • Customer segmentation
  • Lifecycle campaigns
  • Automated retention flows

Identify opportunities to increase:

  • Repeat purchases
  • Customer retention
  • LTV
  • Email engagement
  • Email-attributed revenue

Monitor deliverability and continuously improve lifecycle performance based on customer behavior.

Analytics & Customer Insights

Monitor performance across the entire ecommerce ecosystem.

Work with:

  • GA4
  • Shopify Analytics
  • Hotjar
  • Microsoft Clarity
  • Similar behavioral analytics platforms

Analyze:

  • Revenue
  • ROAS
  • MER
  • CPA
  • CAC
  • AOV
  • LTV
  • Conversion Rate
  • Repeat Purchase Rate
  • Retention
  • Funnel performance
  • Customer behavior

Use behavioral analytics, session recordings, funnel data, and ecommerce reporting to identify opportunities that may not be visible through advertising dashboards alone.

Prepare monthly reporting with clear insights, recommendations, and execution priorities.

Technical SEO

Own and support technical SEO improvements across the ecommerce store.

You’ll:

  • Conduct technical SEO audits.
  • Monitor indexing and crawlability.
  • Implement and optimize schema and structured data.
  • Improve metadata and internal linking.
  • Review site architecture and website health.
  • Monitor organic search performance.
  • Identify opportunities to increase organic visibility.
  • Collaborate with content and development resources where necessary.
