Job description

LCG Advisors is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Specialty Finance Team. This role is highly visible and involves direct interaction with institutional lenders, private credit funds, and banks primarily engaged in specialty finance. The Senior Associate will lead and execute collateral and operational due diligence engagements, with increased responsibility for independent analysis and preparation of client-facing deliverables. Engagements primarily target consumer finance and commercial specialty finance operators such as consumer lenders, factoring companies, merchant cash advance, or equipment finance. Engagements may also target healthcare and technology-focused businesses, on occasion.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead execution of financial and operational due diligence services, including on-site or remote examinations, portfolio reviews, and acquisition due diligence engagements.
  • Prepare and refine Excel-based workpapers supporting scoped procedures and engagement conclusions.
  • Evaluate complex portfolios, collateral structures, and credit facilities within client-defined scopes of work.
  • Identify, analyze, and escalate portfolio risks, operational gaps, and data integrity issues.
  • Independently manage engagement workstreams, including file testing, portfolio analytics, reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Interact directly with clients through calls, meetings, and written communications, including discussion of preliminary observations and findings.
  • Work directly with subject company management, including senior stakeholders, to obtain information, discuss operational processes, and inquire about noted exceptions or trends.
  • Draft and contribute written due diligence reports summarizing findings, trends, and risk considerations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Candidates with degrees in other disciplines and relevant finance, accounting or data analysis experience will also be considered.
  • One or more years of experience in Asset-Based Lending, Specialty Finance, Credit Analysis, or related due diligence roles with exposure to Asset-Based Finance is required.
    • Prior exposure to consumer finance, commercial specialty finance, healthcare lending, or venture debt structures is a strong plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including independent development and review of complex workpapers, including some exposure to VBA, PowerPivot, PowerBI, and PowerQuery is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a client-service environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing client-facing reports.
  • High attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and ability to operate with limited supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Flexibility for travel (up to 50%, typically Monday evening – Thursday afternoon when onsite)
