Job description

To support our mission and operational structure, we are only able to hire team members who are already authorized to work in Europe. Candidates MUST have existing legal work authorization as visa sponsorship is not available.



Greater Europe Mission (GEM) is a Christian missions organization committed to seeing Europe transformed by multiplying disciples and growing Christ's Church. Through partnerships with ministries and churches, GEM equips and sends workers to build relationships, share the Gospel, and make disciples in their everyday lives to transform Europe.



POSITION SUMMARY:  

The New Staff Engagement Director supports the engagement, preparation, and deployment of new workers serving in Europe. This role serves as the primary point of contact for appointees and new workers from countries without established Sending Entities and provides support to European Sending Entities, as needed, in their appointee and new worker processes. The Director also guides new workers in appropriate funding models and fund raising for ministry with GEM.


This role is part of the International Personnel Team, which supports GEM personnel across Sending Entities and works to maintain shared standards, align practices with Human Resources departments, and promote consistent new worker preparation and deployment.


Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Personnel, this position works closely with Sending Entities and GEM nations to support the placement of cross-cultural workers and to oversee key aspects of International New Staff engagement from application through deployment.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the support, coaching, and training provided to new workers in fund raising
  • Oversee processes and systems used to orient, prepare, track, and support new workers
  • Coordinate preparation and support for appointees so they are equipped to thrive personally and missionally
  • Participate as a member of the International Personnel Team
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for appointees and new workers from countries without established Sending Entities
  • Provide support to Sending Entity Human Resources departments in matters related to International Personnel
  • Work closely with Sending Entities and GEM nations to support the placement of cross-cultural workers


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL GEM MISSIONARIES – see Expectations for GEM Workers for further details
 

  1. maintain personal spiritual vitality and a healthy family life 
  2. engage in personal discipleship for the growth and multiplication of obedient Christ followers 
  3. actively participate in a local church 
  4. take at least one day/quarter as a spiritual retreat (Day away with God) 
  5. maintain prayer and financial support 
  6. contribute to the operation and health of your GEM nation community 
  7. report monthly (ex. Metrics) 
  8. participate in nation-wide and mission-wide meetings, retreats and conferences as required 


REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

MPD/Fund Raising Coaches as necessary. Position may provide direct supervision of some appointees 
and indirect management of all appointees. 


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: 

This is a part-time position, days and hours of work flexible.


TRAVEL: 

This position requires some travel to meetings, about 20 days per year


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (EQF Level 6) or equivalent from a recognized higher education institution. Knowledge and experience in fund raising in Europe is desired.
