Note: This role requires either 5+ years of probate, trust, and estate litigation experience, or 8+ years of civil or family law litigation experience with demonstrated job stability and strong professional references. Candidates without one of these two qualifications will not be considered.

Job Description

  • Serve as lead attorney on trust and estate litigation matters, managing cases from inception through trial.
  • Draft and strategize pleadings, motions, discovery requests, memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Take depositions, attend mediations, negotiate settlements, and appear regularly in probate court.
  • Advise clients independently on pre-litigation strategy, litigation risk, and case direction.
  • Manage conservatorship and guardianship proceedings from initiation through ongoing representation.
  • Oversee probate administrations from opening proceedings through discharge of the personal representative.
  • Counsel trustees and beneficiaries on trust administration matters and disputes.
  • Research complex legal issues in trust, estate, and probate law and translate findings into actionable strategy.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license in good standing.
  • 5+ years of probate, trust, and estate litigation experience; OR 8+ years of civil or family law litigation with strong tenure and references.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a caseload and serve as attorney of record.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in the courtroom.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and deadline management.
  • Comfortable advising clients directly and making independent legal judgment calls.
  • Genuine interest in trust and estate law — demonstrated or actively developing.
