Short Description:

EHR Integration Specialist participates in all phases of connecting EHR systems to NC HealthConnex with a primary focus on supporting health care providers with their technical implementation to the state’s health information.

 

Complete Description:

***The candidate will be allowed to work remotely but will be expected to work onsite once staff return to site. The candidate will need to come onsite the first day to collect equipment.

***US Citizenship is required.

***Fingerprint background check is required.

 

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Integration Specialist participates in all phases of connecting EHR systems to NC HealthConnex with a primary focus on supporting health care providers with their technical implementation to the state’s health information exchange.  The EHR Integration Specialist collaborates with the NC HIEA, technical partner, participants and their EHR vendors.  The EHR Integration Specialist assists in the acquisition of integration and interface requirements, the design of data mapping and transformations, and the evaluation of the EHR interface to meet or exceed data quality requirements. The EHR Integration specialist will serve as a business relationship specialist between the HIEA and health care providers providing EHR IT knowledge and support to clearly convey information with this community of stakeholders.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•             Provides individual support to designated health care providers to educate on the technical requirements for connectivity to the state-designated HIE

•             Collaborates with NC HIEA outreach and provider relations team, SAS, Participants, and EHR vendors to integrate clinical data feeds into the defined Data Targets

•             Ensures data feeds meet Data Quality requirements

•             Analyzes problems of low to medium complexity related to integrated systems.

•             Creates and maintains documentation, issue tickets, etc. in accordance with defined standards

•             Coordinates with project team members

•             Makes recommendations for improvement of operations or processes

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

•             Experience managing customer relationships in the health IT organization

•             Experience with HL7 V.2 messages and Continuity of Care Documents (CCD)

•             Knowledge of interfacing with various applications, management information systems, data structures, systems analysis and design, and programming languages. Healthcare systems integration strongly preferred.

•             Knowledge of HIPAA and health care regulatory compliance as they relate to Electronic Health Record (EHR)/Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and Health Information Exchange (HIE).

•             Experience with Microsoft Office Tools, including Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint.                 

•             Ability to plan, organize and execute duties independently with minimal supervision.

•             Demonstrated skills as an effective negotiator and conflict resolution in stressful situations.

•             Ability to communicate with cross-functional teams and all levels of an organization, including IT executives, business managers and other technical and clinical staff.

•             Knowledge of commercial integration engines

•             Demonstrated knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle

•             Experience with one or more programming or query languages

 

Preferences:

•             Mirth interface engine experience

•             Knowledge and experience with healthcare data

•             3-4 years as an interface specialist in the health Information technology field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

 

Education:

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in business consultation or business relationship development in an information technology environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

***Special Requirement for Employment***

•             This position is subject to NC Administrative Code 14B NCAC 18A.0401 which requires:

o             US citizenship

o             Shall be at least 18 years of age

o             Subject to fingerprint background verification
