About the role

The Video Editor will transform raw footage into polished, compelling content optimized for digital platforms. This role involves working closely with the media production team to maintain consistent visual style, pacing, and storytelling. The editor will handle a variety of deliverables, including long-form episodes, short-form micro-content, and social media assets, ensuring all outputs align with brand guidelines and engage target audiences.

What you'll do

• A. Editing & Post-Production
• • Edit long-form and short-form video content according to creative direction and deadlines.
  • Add motion graphics, captions, and lower thirds as needed.
  • Optimize audio levels, color grading, and transitions for professional quality.

• B. Workflow & Collaboration
• • Manage project files, version control, and asset organization for efficient handoffs.
  • Collaborate with producers, designers, and other editors to incorporate feedback.
  • Stay updated on current editing trends and best practices for YouTube and social platforms.

• C. Quality Assurance & Delivery
• • Ensure all edits meet technical specifications and platform requirements.
  • Deliver final files in required formats and aspect ratios for distribution.
  • Suggest creative improvements to enhance storytelling and viewer engagement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience editing professional video content (portfolio or reel required).
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (or similar NLE), After Effects (basic), and audio editing tools.
• Strong sense of pacing, rhythm, and visual storytelling.
• Familiarity with aspect ratios and formats for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to take feedback constructively and work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Assignment

• A video reel (1–2 minutes) highlighting your best editing work.

• Editing Sample (choose one):

• • Option A: Provide a before-and-after edit sample—either a personal project or publicly available raw footage you’ve re-edited—to showcase your storytelling, pacing, and stylistic choices. Include a brief (100–150 words) explanation of your decisions and workflow.
  • Option B: Select any existing Yaqeen Institute video of your choice and re-edit a 30–60 second segment in your own unique style. Submit the re-edited clip along with a short note (100–150 words) explaining the creative choices you made and why. (Please include the original video link you used.)

• Optional: A short note (2–3 sentences) about an editing trend or technique you’re excited to explore in future projects.
