Health and Medicine Section Editor (100% remote) | Reports to: Chief Content Officer | FLSA: Full time, Exempt

Summary

The Health and Medicine Section Editor will support the Health and Medicine vertical with experience writing, curating, and developing new focused content. We are looking for someone to bring their expertise from the field of Health and Medicine or a field closely related and creatively share knowledge to produce engaging content for our audience. As part of the team this position will work closely with both the Chief Content Officer, VP of Content Development, multimedia teams, and others to collaboratively develop and oversee Health and Medicine-related content within 1440’s Topic Pages.

This position will be empowered to engage subscribers directly through channels including regular emails, onsite content, multimedia opportunities including videos and podcasts, and more.  

This position will work closely with the VP of Content Development and Chief Content Officer to identify high-priority topics. 

Responsibilities:

Oversee Content Development for 1440’s Health and Medicine Topic Page vertical (~90%)

• Plan, develop, create, and maintain topic pages within the Health and Medicine vertical.
• Write accessible and educational explainers for topics within the Health and Medicine vertical.
• Curate the best resources from across the internet on Health and Medicine onto the respective topic pages for 1440 readers to explore and engage with.
• Oversee the creation and delivery of Health and Medicine-focused email on a weekly cadence to 1440 Topics readers (projected audience of 100,000+ readers).
• Collaborate with editorial and social teams to develop multimedia related to each topic (videos, podcasts, etc).
• Establish 1440 as a thought leader within the topic area via both developed content and potential public-facing engagements (speaking opportunities, interviews, etc). 
• Help develop and execute strategies to disseminate Health and Medicine topics content to wider audiences beyond current 1440 readership.   

• Maintain and keep fresh current Health and Medicine topic pages (i.e., keeping a pulse on excellent new resources in the area for curation onto the platform). 

Support broader 1440 mission, products, and strategy (~10%)

• Join weekly small and full team calls.
• Help identify opportunities to integrate 1440 Topics with the core product.

• Master 1440’s editorial voice and help translate it to social media in an engaging way.
• Stay up to date on trends and algorithms to better support the brand. 
• Report KPIs to the 1440 team regularly and efficiently.
• Contribute to improvements; test assumptions often; help shape the fabric of our company.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree
• 3+ years related experience in writing and curating in the field of Health and Medicine  (or journalism role related to the areas)
