About Wolfram Institute

The Wolfram Institute for Computational Foundations of Science is a nonprofit research organization for the computational approach to fundamental science. Our goal is to develop research programs that are theoretically sound and computationally operable in areas including, but not limited to, physics, mathematics, philosophy/logic, biology, cognitive science/artificial intelligence and economics. About the role

Location: Remote

Duration: 6-12 months, with potential for extension

Compensation: Competitive stipend

The Wolfram Institute is seeking a talented Writer in Residence to bridge complex scientific concepts with engaging narratives. Join our team to explore the computational frontiers of physics, mathematics, biology, and computer science through writing.

What you'll do

  • Produce articles, essays, and multimedia content on topics related to our research output and writings from https://writings.stephenwolfram.com/
  • Collaborate with researchers to distill technical ideas for broad audiences.
  • Contribute to blogs, newsletters, and public outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing portfolio in science, technology, or philosophy.
  • Familiarity with computational thinking or Wolfram technologies (e.g., Mathematica) beneficial, not required.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for making the abstract accessible.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States to work from a U.S. location. International consultants must have the required authorization to work in their country of residence.
