Senior Microsoft Security Consultant – Microsoft Purview & Data Security

This is a remote position.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Security Consultant with deep expertise in Microsoft Purview and enterprise Data Security to lead strategic consulting engagements focused on data governance, information protection, data loss prevention (DLP), insider risk management, compliance, and AI data security. The ideal candidate will help clients discover, classify, protect, govern, and monitor sensitive data across Microsoft 365, Azure, on-premises, SaaS applications, and multi-cloud environments.

This role is a blend of architecture, consulting, and hands-on implementation. The consultant will assess existing data security programs, design Microsoft Purview solutions, lead workshops, develop roadmaps, and implement data protection capabilities aligned with Zero Trust and regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead Microsoft Purview architecture, design, deployment, and optimization engagements.
  
• Conduct Data Security Assessments and Microsoft Purview maturity reviews.
  
• Design enterprise data governance and information protection strategies.
  
• Implement Microsoft Purview Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Insider Risk Management, and Data Lifecycle Management solutions.
  
• Develop data classification and sensitivity labeling strategies across Microsoft 365 and hybrid environments.
  
• Design secure data protection architectures for Microsoft Copilot, AI workloads, and generative AI applications.
  
• Facilitate executive and technical workshops to gather business, security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  
• Develop current-state assessments, future-state architectures, and implementation roadmaps.
  
• Integrate Microsoft Purview with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft 365 security services.
  
• Collaborate with security, compliance, legal, privacy, and data governance teams.
  
• Provide technical leadership during implementation, migration, and optimization initiatives.
  
• Deliver executive presentations, architecture documentation, and knowledge transfer sessions.

• 8–10+ years of cybersecurity, information protection, or data security experience.
  
• 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft Purview implementation and architecture experience.
  
• Experience deploying Microsoft Purview across enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.
  
• Experience designing enterprise data classification and labeling strategies.
  
• Experience implementing DLP, Insider Risk Management, and Compliance solutions.
  
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance and Security environments.
  
• Experience working with legal, compliance, privacy, and governance teams.
  
• Strong client-facing consulting and presentation experience.
