Extend is backed by some of the most prominent technology investors in the industry, and our headquarters is in downtown San Francisco.

About the Role:

The Fraud Intelligence team is the magic behind Extend’s post-purchase protection platform. We build and refine cutting-edge analytics engines based on signals and transactions from hundreds of millions of users to detect and prevent fraud, drive smarter decisions, and unlock business value.

We love uncovering patterns in messy data to catch bad actors and stop fraud in its tracks. You’ll have the opportunity to shape new fraud prevention product features and analytics capabilities. You’ll work cross-functionally to add features to prevent fraud and optimize savings based on your analysis.

If you’re data-obsessed, impact-driven, and excited to tackle complex problems at the intersection of analytics and fraud prevention, you’ll thrive on our team. This is a high-ownership role where your work will directly protect retailers, enhance customer trust, and drive the company’s bottom line.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead a team to analyze large-scale behavioral, transactional, and interaction data to uncover signals indicative of fraud and abuse
  • Respond swiftly to emerging fraud threats by developing monitoring frameworks, dashboards, and mitigation solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Own AI agent performance tracking and optimization for Fraud Ops, driving continuous accuracy and efficiency gains
  • Partner with the Machine Learning team to translate fraud pattern findings into model feature recommendations, providing feedback on model scoring based on investigation outcomes
  • Own metric development and regular reporting to track operational efficiency and fraud savings
  • Hire, mentor and coach junior data analysts
  • Perform design and code reviews to raise the technical excellence bar
  • Partner closely with leadership, fraud operations, product, and engineering teams to define and execute effective fraud strategies
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and collaboration across the fraud and broader data science teams

What We’re Looking For:

  • Hands-on, proactive, and analytical professional who is passionate about using data to solve complex, real-world problems
  • 6+ years of experience in fraud analytics, ideally within an e-commerce or retail environment
  • 2+ years of experience mentoring and managing analytics teams
  • Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment is preferred
  • Expertise in core analytics concepts, including statistical analysis, data wrangling, and data storytelling
  • Proficiency in SQL, experience with Python
  • Strong people leadership skills; ability to develop top analytics talent and leaders
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes
  • High attention to detail, strong intellectual curiosity, and a deep understanding of user behavior and fraud patterns
  • Empathetic, humble, and collaborative team player
  • Candidates must be located within the continental United States

Expected Pay Range: $157,250 - $182,750 per year salaried*

* The target base salary range for this position is listed above. Individual salaries are determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
