Job description

About Bland AI

Bland AI is the voice AI platform built for enterprises with high-volume, complex call center operations. Bland started by solving the core infrastructure problem that made voice AI unusable for business: latency, reliability, and the inability to handle real-world complexity. Where early voice AI took 7 seconds to respond and could only handle basic FAQs, Bland built the entire stack from scratch.

Today, Bland's platform fully resolves up to 65% of inbound calls autonomously – handling not just FAQs, but multi-step workflows, authentication logic, business-rule-based routing, and live data lookups. For large call center operators, each percentage point of resolution Bland drives is worth $500K–$1M+ per year in savings. Bland's biggest technical differentiator: they own and operate the entire voice AI stack in-house – transcription, LLM, and TTS – rather than relying on third-party API providers. This is a deliberate architectural choice that enables the uptime guarantees, data security standards, and customization depth that regulated industries require.

Why This Role Matters

The current finance team is small and nimble. This is our first internal accounting hire where you will have the ability to make an outsized impact on accounting processes, policies, and reporting. You will have ownership of the accounting close, partnering with our external providers, with the goal to deliver seamless, accurate, and consistent reporting standards . You will be a thought partner to other leaders across the company to enhance internal tooling and reporting.

The right person for this role is someone who is interested in building processes, implementing tooling, willing to roll up their sleeves to dive into the details, and can operate in a fast paced environment.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for ensuring the monthly close is done consistently and timely each month. You will partner with external providers on monthly close procedures, and reconciliations. . You will partner with department leaders on ensuring proper expense tagging, allocations, and reporting. Once close is complete, you will be responsible for preparing the reporting package.

Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) is a must. Knowledge with usage based recognition is nice to have. You will have the ability to build out revenue reporting processes with our newly implemented tooling to drive automation of both our self-serve and enterprise lines of business.

Beyond close and revenue, you will oversee day to day accounting operations: AP, vendor management, accounting policies, sales tax, and the 1099s. You will put internal controls in place, appropriate for our sized company, and keep things documented and reconciled well enough that our audit documentation is ready for prime time.

You will have the opportunity to establish a world class accounting function that delivers value across the company. This is a critical, high visibility role, that with strong performance can expand significantly as the company grows.

Ideal Candidate Profile / Role Requirements

You are an ideal candidate if you have operational experience and a deep knowledge of revenue and the broader accounting close. You should have experience with financial audits and an understanding of internal controls. You will need knowledge of accounting tooling and systems and a perspective of how to build strong reporting processes to handle a high-volume of transactions. You will need experience in working with unstructured data with a strong knowledge of spreadsheet formulas and tooling. MYou should be comfortable with ambiguity. Startups are chaotic. Things change. Systems are imperfect. In this seat, your job is to bring order to the parts that touch the numbers. You should take pride in unglamorous work. Nobody throws a party when the bank rec ties. The people who succeed here are the ones who treat small details seriously and take pride in making things work.

Must-Have Experience

  • 4+ years of accounting experience across public accounting, senior accountant, or accounting manager roles

  • Hands-on ownership of month-end close and account reconciliations
