Principal AI Platform Engineer

SentinelOne is building a new AI Platform team whose mission is to accelerate AI feature delivery across the company while ensuring every AI feature meets our security, cost, and quality standards. We are looking for a Principal AI Platform Engineer to be the founding technical leader of this team: you will partner directly with the team's engineering leader to define the technical vision and roadmap for the platform that every AI-powered capability at SentinelOne will build on. SentinelOne already ships AI at scale - from our patented detection models to Purple AI, our industry-awarded generative AI security analyst - and your challenge is to turn these proven but distributed capabilities into one coherent platform: deciding what to reuse, what to rebuild, and what to create new. This role is as much about product as it is about platform: you should be able to build AI experiences customers love, and then platformize what was built into capabilities that every team can reuse. What Will You Do?

Primary responsibilities include:

• Define the technical vision and multi-year roadmap for SentinelOne's AI Platform (model gateway/routing - using tools like e.g. Kong; agent/MCP infrastructure, evaluation pipelines, AI observability) in partnership with engineering leadership.
• Serve as the tech lead by owning architecture decisions, setting engineering standards, reviewing critical designs, and guiding implementation across the team without people management responsibilities.
• Support business-critical AI initiatives, partnering with product and engineering leaders to translate business strategy into platform capabilities and clear engineering priorities.
• Partner with product teams to build customer-facing AI experiences hands-on, then platformize what was built into shared, reusable capabilities.
• Drive technology selection and build-vs-buy decisions for the platform's core stack, weighing security, cost, scalability, and time-to-value.
• Mentor senior engineers across the organization and act as a recognized expert on AI infrastructure within and beyond the company.

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

Ideal candidates will have:

• 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems, including several years driving the architecture of platform or infrastructure products used by multiple teams.
• 2+ years hands-on experience taking LLM-based systems to production (e.g., model integration and routing, retrieval or agent architectures, evaluation harnesses, and cost/latency/quality optimization).
• Strong hands-on coding skills in a mainstream backend language (e.g., Python or Go) and deep experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP).
• Strong product acumen with experience building world-class customer-facing products, translating customer needs into technical decisions, and engaging business stakeholders.
• Proven track record as a tech lead of cross-team initiatives with ambiguous requirements, turning vague business goals into a sequenced technical roadmap.
