Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Administrator to handle challenging issues and support our ever-expanding global customer base. Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train Junior System Administrators and System Administrators to develop technical expertise and operational best practices.

  • Lead technical projects from planning through implementation, ensuring timely and successful delivery.

  • Manage incident response activities for escalated issues, coordinating resolution and communication as needed.

  • Perform the setup, configuration, and ongoing management of internal infrastructure virtual machines (VMs) and services.

  • Plan, stage, and deploy platform upgrades and updates across the server fleet.

  • Provision and configure software on new nodes to support production and development environments.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for platform and customer-reported issues.

  • Install, configure, and commission servers by deploying required operating systems, software, and services.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience administering enterprise Linux environments (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, or similar).

  • Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and security best practices.

  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, or other scripting languages used for automation and infrastructure management.

  • Experience deploying and managing virtualization platforms and containerized workloads, including Kubernetes and Libvirt.

  • Familiarity with networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS.

  • Experience configuring and supporting web servers, databases, caching solutions, and distributed storage platforms such as Ceph.

  • Working knowledge of Cumulus Linux, PHP routing, and related infrastructure technologies is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex platform and customer-facing issues.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and mentoring skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.

Compensation

$80,000 - $100,000

Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.
