Job description

The Sales Manager, North American Data Center Sales is a hunter-focused individual contributor role responsible for driving new account acquisition and revenue growth for ZincFive's battery cabinet solutions (BC Series) across colocation, enterprise, hyperscale/Neocloud, and mission-critical data center markets in the NAM region. Reporting to the Director, NAM Data Center Sales, this role is dedicated to identifying, qualifying, and closing net-new business with data center operators, developers that are not currently ZincFive customers. The ideal candidate is a technically fluent, self-motivated sales professional who thrives on prospecting, building pipeline from the ground up, and winning large, complex data center deals in competitive environments. 

The Sales Manager will work cross-functionally with the Director, applications engineering, and product management to ensure ZincFive's BC Series products are positioned effectively and integrated into new customer designs. This role may be performed remotely or at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon and reports to the VP of Global Sales & Product. 

Sales Manager, NAM Data Center Sales Job Duties: 

  • Own and execute a new account acquisition strategy targeting colocation operators, hyperscale/Neocloud providers, and regional data center developers across the U.S.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of net-new opportunities through proactive prospecting, cold outreach, industry networking, trade shows, and referral development
  • Carry and exceed an individual quota focused on first-time customer wins and new logo revenue
  • Lead all phases of the sales cycle for new accounts, including prospecting, qualification, design engagement, proposal development, negotiation, and closing
  • Develop relationships with consulting engineers, UPS OEM’s, and MEP/EPC/Integrator firms to drive specification of ZincFive BC Series products into new data center projects
  • Partner closely with applications engineering to deliver technical presentations, solution design guidance, and competitive positioning to prospective customers
  • Represent ZincFive and present BC Series advantages at trade shows, site walks, customer summits, and regional industry events
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecast updates, and account plans; participate in weekly deal reviews and sales strategy sessions with the Director
  • Coordinate with the product management and OEM partnership team when new opportunities involve OEM/UPS integration or joint selling activities 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical discipline, business, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center power, UPS, battery systems, or mission-critical infrastructure sales
  • Demonstrated success as a hunter, with a proven track record of new account acquisition and consistent quota achievement
  • Strong technical sales background with ability to discuss UPS, batteries, and data center electrical design in detail
  • Proven ability to prospect, develop, and close large, complex, multi-stakeholder deals with new customers
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience selling to colocation and enterprise data center customers, including consulting engineers and MEP/EPCs
  • Self-starter with strong pipeline management discipline and the ability to work independently across a large territory
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and modern sales workflow tools 

Preferred Experience/Skills: 

  • Technical experience with battery cabinet or advanced energy storage system sales
  • Existing network of data center operator, developer, consulting engineer, and MEP/EPC contacts in the NAM region
  • Previous experience in a high-growth or startup-like environment
  • Understanding of UPS OEM ecosystems (Vertiv, Eaton, Schneider, ABB, Delta)
  • Familiarity with specification selling IEC/UL/IEEE standards

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 

  • Expected travel 50%+ domestically, with occasional international travel.
  • Work involves sitting, standing, occasional walking, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment when required.
  • Requires the ability to travel by air, car, train, or bus.
  • Manufacturing, warehouse, lab, and office environments.
  • Must be able to maintain a level state of alertness while performing this job
