The Team

Accountable for obtaining goods/services required by the organization including: Indirect Operations (e.g., Office Supplies, Computers, Travel, Maintenance, Machine Parts, etc.). Direct Operations (e.g., Raw Materials and Services for Manufacturing, Production or Construction; Products for Retail, etc.) Procurement processes include: Product/Service Sourcing. Supplier Selection. Pricing/Terms Negotiation. Order Processing. Contract Administration. Supplier Performance Management. May include Strategic Sourcing A Specialist Professional (P4) is a recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: Managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager. Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Global Procurement. This Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for the strategic sourcing of services for Marketing, Human Resources, Consulting, and Finance categories in the Americas with some projects/categories around the world. This sourcing professional will also have the exposure to work with the global team for global category project execution.

Strategic Thinking & Market Insight

  • Ability to analyze complex procurement scenarios and align negotiation strategies with long-term business goals.
  • Negotiation Expertise
  • Manage the development and execution of sourcing projects, reverse auctions, and initiatives ensuring alignment with the overall priorities and objectives of Hitachi Digital as well as the specific business function.
    Proven success negotiating high-value, complex service contracts generating significant savings and non-monetary benefits.
  • Experience structuring contracts to optimize cost, mitigate risk, maximize cash flow, and ensure performance and compliance.

Analytical Acumen

  • Ability to evaluate financial implications, total cost of ownership (TCO), and ROI of IT solutions.
  • Use of procurement analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities and assess vendor risk.

Vendor Relationship Management

  • Familiarity with post-contract management practices to enforce terms and monitor vendor performance.
  • Develop and maintain a best in class global preferred supply base for respective area of responsibility.
  • Experience fostering long-term partnerships with strategic vendors.
  • Ability to manage vendor scorecards, SLAs, and escalation processes.

Communication & Emotional Intelligence

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate needs and negotiate effectively.
  • High emotional intelligence to navigate high-stakes discussions and build trust.
  • Experience influencing IT Executives and IT Senior leaders to adopt Procurement best practices in negotiations with large Software and Hardware suppliers.

Ethical & Regulatory Awareness

  • Commitment to ethical sourcing and compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.

What You’ll Bring

  • 4 years of experience in Procurement sourcing and category management.
  • Understanding of basic procurement law with correlating ability to negotiate/oversee:  master supply agreements, professional services agreements, statements of work, change requests, amendments.
  • Experience in some of the following Procurement categories: Marketing, Human Resources, Professional Services, and Financial Services.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading the sourcing process, working with stakeholders across businesses and geographies. 
  • Proven ability to communicate, influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and must be a team player.
  • Excellent negotiations skills with the ability to negotiate large volume, high risk deals independently.

Strong supplier management skills. 

  • Experience working in eSourcing tool environment a plus.
  • Able to navigate a fast-paced multi-national environment with personnel from all over the many regions and will seek to foster excellent working relationships.
  • Must be well organized, confident in navigating demands from stakeholders, a natural self-starter with a willingness to learn and embrace new methodologies, whilst employing excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree is Preferred
