Job description

This is a remote position.

A bit about us… People Rocket is a responsible design firm. We co-design with our clients to shape a better future. We use modern ways of working across industry, organizational, and geographic boundaries. Our approach creates independence for our clients by building their innovation capacity. We take an inclusive approach to innovation that values multidisciplinary collaboration and we source diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and expertise to create better solutions.

As an organization, we stand against systemic racism and oppression, and promote equity and belonging in our work and our working environment.

People Rocket is a global team of what we call ‘T-shaped’ people! T-shaped people come to People Rocket with a breadth of previous experiences and an in-depth knowledge of a specific domain or domains (i.e., marine biology, learning science, natural language processing, or communication design — just to name a few!). Our approach to hiring people with intentionally broad in-depth knowledge areas and with diverse professional/lived experiences allows us to unlock adaptive expertise and collective intelligence. It is what we believe makes our team the best it can be.

A bit about what we do… we work with organizations to invent a better future, so they can:
Take giant leaps forward on their most complex (and interesting) challenges
Step back to see their work from a new, more generative place
Challenge their assumptions and redefine what impact means for them
Take bold steps they might second-guess on their own
Problem solve from a fresh and inclusive perspective

A bit about our job descriptions… you won’t see traditional requirements, on purpose. If, after reading this, you believe 20-50% of your experiences are relevant and you're excited about our work — perfect — we want to hear from you! Please know that People Rocket is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and does not discriminate against any employee or job applicant because of race or color, gender identity or expression, religion, ethnicity or national origin, sexuality, physical ability, neurodiversity, or age.

A Day in the Life:
Good morning! You grab a coffee and open your laptop. It’s Monday morning and you start your week by reviewing the projects you lead. One is advising a CHRO on their approach to a workforce development strategy, and you spend the morning catching up on the latest workforce trends and journals. Your role is about supporting organisations strategically to redesign their structure, talent, skills, and behaviors. This not only requires the ability to manage C-suite relationships and complex projects, but also tapping into your existing expertise in adult learning, workforce culture, and leadership development.

Next, you turn your attention to your next biggest workshop series. You are designing workshops to build innovation capabilities within a large organization. You meet with your team and one designer shares the learning objectives and planned flow, while another details their ideas for managing the stakeholders in the lead-up to the workshops.
You consider the impact of the workshops, looking at them through the lenses of human-centeredness, innovation, learning science, and equity in both the process and products. You make some changes to the learning activities, making sure the workshops meet the objectives needed by the client, all the time drawing on your passion for capability building and learning.

After lunch, you sit back at your desk feeling refreshed. While you’ve been away, your team member in another timezone has shared the latest iteration of a Learning & Development Strategy for a venture-backed startup. As you give feedback, you lean on learnings from similar projects in your experience.
Before you log off, you jump on a quick call with another delivery lead to serve as a thought partner. Together, you consider the flow-on implications of a major change in their project. Lastly, you check the status of your projects, reviewing the timelines, project plans, and budgets. Considering everything you’ve learned in your meetings today, you make changes as needed. Tomorrow, you will start your day advising on best practices in Organizational Culture, so you get a good rest before a busy day.
