Operation Mobilization USA

Religious Institutions

Operation Mobilization (OM), USA is a global organization working with 6,800 missionaries in 118 nations to build communities of Christ followers, provide humanitarian assistance and demonstrate compassion. Though the Gospel has been with us for nearly 2,000 years, 2.8 billion people have never experienced its message of love and hope. In many cases, these same people are being crushed by unspeakable poverty, horrific injustice and cruel social and political systems. With nearly six decades making inroads into the farthest corners of the world combined with a pioneering 21st century approach, OM is uniquely equipped to address these issues. Whether it’s rescuing enslaved women in Asia, assisting refugees in Europe, or developing bodies of believers in the the Middle East, we pinpoint ways to strengthen local communities and use the opportunities God presents us along the way to share The Bible’s life-giving message. When you partner with OM USA, through your professional work, financial generosity, and/or prayer, you become an important member of a worldwide movement with eternal significance. With operations in nearly every region of the world, the sun never sets on our operations, meaning you will be part of a team serving the needy and spreading the Word of God every minute of every day. Few other organizations allow you to see your time and talent reach so far or impact so many.

Storytelling & Editorial Volunteer

Freedom Challenge USA
Part-Time (5 Hours/Week) | Volunteer Role, minimum 6 months

Do you have a heart for storytelling and a sharp eye for detail? Join Freedom Challenge USA as a Storytelling & Editorial Volunteer and help bring powerful global testimonies to life—supporting a movement that advocates for freedom from human trafficking through prayer, worship, and action.

This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to grow professionally, build a strong writing and editing portfolio, and develop marketable skills in nonprofit storytelling, cross-cultural communication, and digital publishing.

The Freedom Challenge is a movement of passionate women dedicated to freeing oppressed and enslaved women and children worldwide. We do this by praying intentionally and participating in physical challenges while raising funds and awareness to disrupt the cycles of oppression and poverty that can lead to human trafficking.

Role Overview

These stories reflect how grant funding is transforming lives and communities. You’ll edit and publish them to our blog (through Squarespace), archive them for future marketing use, and collaborate with our team to ensure each story is handled with care, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

  • Edit and rewrite global project testimonies
  • Ensure stories align with Freedom Challenge’s voice, tone, and values
  • Source appropriate visuals from our internal photo bank when needed

  • Archive stories for future use in donor engagement, social media, and brochures
  • Collaborate with the Field Relation Specialist to retrieve fresh stories
  • Participate in training on cultural sensitivity and privacy protocols
  • Provide proofreading support for other content as needed
  • Report to the Content & Brand Lead and contribute to content planning

What You’ll Gain

  • Experience in cross-cultural storytelling and ethical editing
  • Skills in content creation, blog publishing, and digital archiving
  • Exposure to faith-based nonprofit communications and global missions
  • Development of professional writing, editing, and collaboration skills
  • A portfolio of meaningful work to showcase on your resume

Qualifications

  • Background or interest in Communications, Journalism, International Studies, or related fields
  • Sensitivity to cultural nuances and storytelling ethics
  • Familiarity with Squarespace or willingness to learn
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and respectful of privacy and confidentiality
  • A posture of learning, growth, and curiosity
