Job description


Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Director Radar, Business Development, the incumbent will execute and/or lead Leonardo US Inc. team efforts to identify and capture new business with specific DoD Agencies, Tier One Prime contractors, Platform Reseller and Platform Modifiers. Incumbent will do market research, identify customer needs, prepare business cases, prepare and execute campaign strategies, and execute capture plans to facilitate successful award of programs. As most products originate from Leonardo’s European business divisions, a high level of coordination with Leonardo’s Lines of Business (LoBs) and their Business Development teams is required.


Duties:

  • Identification of new opportunities through market research and close customer relations.
  • Development of campaign and capture strategies.
  • Establish, organize and lead specific proposal efforts to capture new business.
  • Close coordination with Leonardo LoBs in Europe and their Business Development teams.
  • Present status of ongoing campaigns and pursuits to include win strategies, schedules, funding profiles, probabilities of occurrence/win, etc.
  • Interface with external customers from functional to organization command levels, as well as with internal Leonardo personnel up to the corporate executive level. 


Skills/Qualifications:

  • 10 years of aerospace systems marketing or DoD acquisition experience
  • Ability to work effectively from remote location utilizing digital media as the primary interface.
  • Frequent travel to U.S. customers, DoD agency, Leonardo US Inc., and Leonardo international sites is required.
  • Attendance at trade shows and conferences in furthering the goals and objectives of our business.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong Customer Relationship Management (CRM) skills and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD acquisition processes.
  • Ability to work well in support of capture, technical and engineering teams, as well as independently with limited supervision.


Desired Skills

  • Basic knowledge of airborne radar sensors, modes and operation.
  • Knowledge of ITAR and export concerns for FMS and DCS sales to international end users.
  • Basic understanding of Information Assurance, Anti Tamper and their potential impact on program execution.
  • Basic knowledge of program in-service support business models, e.g. Performance Based Logistics (PBL), etc.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD standard contracting vehicles, e.g. IDIQ, etc.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Work Conditions

  • Remote office environment

Special Considerations

  • Significant amount of domestic and some international travel required.

Certifications

  • US Secret Clearance required.
