The Medical Director is responsible for developing and sustaining relationships and impacting clinical strategies and workflows that promote practice and patient satisfaction and improve value-based healthcare delivery. This role will inflect and implement Aledade's programs and technologies and learn what really "moves the needle" in terms of delivering quality health outcomes while reducing overall cost for the assigned ACOs. This role requires demonstrated excellence in creating buy-in with internal and external stakeholders to promote and affect change in the way healthcare is delivered.
Primary Duties:
Clinical Outcomes:
Lead and drive Performance Excellence clinical outcomes across all contracts within your portfolio.
Strategically align and coordinate with Aledade’s national Hospital & Health System (H&HS) strategy leadership on Performance Excellence clinical drivers of shared savings aligned with the Aledade Annual Operating Plan, currently including but not limited to driving clinical performance in Risk and Hypertensive-based initiatives, while assisting in the launch of newly signed practices.
In coordination with Executive Directors, account leads, the Market President, and the SVP of Strategic Initiatives, own clinical strategy goals and objectives and deploy resources including but not limited to clinical contracted extenders, coaching, and Aledade tools to drive successful clinical outcomes across your portfolio.
Serve as a national Clinical Champion:
Understand, communicate, and champion Aledade’s commitment and strategy towards Value Based Care performance through clinical workflows that drive performance in initiatives including but not limited to risk and hypertension among partner practices and clinicians; influencing best practices and optimized clinical workflows that complement the practice transformation efforts of the Hospitals and Health Systems team.
Serve as a thought partner with Market President and SVP of Strategic Initiatives, sharing accountability with H&HS colleagues and championing clinical strategy within growth, local policy, and other initiatives deemed essential to market operations. Thought partnership additionally includes serving as ACO Medical Director for applicable ACOs.
Represent the Clinical Voice:
In coordination with Aledade’s National Medical Director, serve on strategic workgroups or committees to participate in Aledade's clinical performance strategies across the company infrastructure, providing leadership, insight, and piloting opportunities to enhance and grow Aledade's clinical resources and initiatives.
Adapt to evolving organizational needs and priorities by taking on additional duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Doctorate in Medicine (MD or DO)
Additional Training: residency in an adult primary care specialty (family medicine, general internal medicine, geriatric medicine, combined internal medicine/peds)
2+ years of direct clinical (patient care) experience, with consideration given to quality improvement activities, participation in cost containment initiatives and other population health experiences
5+ years of experience working in partnership with hospitals and health systems as a medical director or clinical strategy lead.
Board Certified in their speciality (ABFM, etc)
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate activities to consistently meet deadlines and expectations within Market(s) of responsibility
Ability to span from high level strategy to tactical work required to deliver results within market portfolio assignments
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent organizational and project management skills, and team-building skills.
Familiarity with process mapping and work-flow analysis tools.
Excellent computer skills and willingness to learn additional software applications.
