The Software Engineer will work under the guidance of the Director of Software Development on application development initiatives utilizing the Microsoft technology stack. This role will apply expertise in software design, architecture, and development to enhance Marquette’s technology platforms, deliver innovative solutions, and expand application capabilities. The Software Engineer will contribute to building and supporting scalable, reliable, and user-focused applications while ensuring strong technical design, performance, and maintainability. Responsibilities will also include database design, development, and optimization to support high-performing business solutions.
Qualifications/Competencies for Success:
B.S. / M.S. in computer science, software engineering or a related field.
Minimum of six to eight (6–8) years of professional software development experience, with a focus on enterprise web-based applications.
Strong experience with the Microsoft .NET ecosystem, including .NET Core / ASP.NET Core development for modern, scalable applications.
Demonstrated proficiency in developing clean, maintainable, and efficient code using C#, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and related technologies.
Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful Web APIs using ASP.NET Core.
Strong database development skills, including SQL Server database design, T-SQL Triggers, Query optimization and performance tuning.
Strong understanding of software architecture principles, including designing robust, scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise applications.
Experience integrating and utilizing third-party UI and productivity components, including: Syncfusion, Telerik, SpreadSheetGear, Bootstrap and related libraries.
Experience with both client-side and server-side web application development frameworks.
Experience developing data-intensive business applications, dashboards, reporting solutions, and workflow-based applications.
Experience in supporting and maintaining business critical applications.
Experience with Microsoft Blazor Web Technology a strong plus.
Prior experience with financial applications and statistics a strong plus.
Knowledge of Azure a plus.
