Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, is seeking an experienced Structural Modeler for a long-term independent contractor basis.

This is an ongoing contractual engagement with a US-based company and is not limited to a single project. The role involves continuous collaboration across multiple mission-critical projects, based on business needs.
You will provide services as an independent, self-employed professional under a formal independent contractor agreement.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Structural Modeler as an independent contract worker to support the design and coordination of cutting-edge data center projects across the U.S. In this role, you will be responsible for modeling, analyzing, and detailing both steel and concrete structures, performing calculations, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring design accuracy using advanced BIM and structural analysis tools. You will collaborate closely with MEP teams and other disciplines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, contributing to the full project lifecycle from schematic design through execution. Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, modeling, and simulating structural systems for data center projects (steel and concrete)
  • Utilizing advanced structural design software
  • Assisting engineers with calculating bearing structures, preparing engineering calculations, schematic and detailed designs, and determining loads for structural elements
  • Developing and checking construction drawings
  • Preparing the technical documentation required for the execution of the project
  • Using BIM tools to virtually construct structural systems and coordinate with other disciplines using tools such as Autodesk Revit.
  • Working with MEP engineers
  • Checking structures according to point clouds
  • BIM Modelling
  • VDC coordination
  • Report on project progress

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering
  • Proven working experience in structural engineering/modeling and finite element analysis
  • Written and spoken English B1-B2 and higher
  • Experience using software such as Ram, Risa, Staad, Etabs, Tekla, SDS2, Solidworks, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Robot (or other) would be a huge plus
  • Experience working on structural drawings
  • Experience calculating bearing structures is a plus but not required
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methods and regulations
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • A data-driven mindset with excellent mathematical skills
  • Self-starters that are ambitious and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Excellent communication skills
