Description:

We are seeking a Part-Time Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) to support the design and development of high-quality training and performance support solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) customers. The ideal candidate brings expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and technology-based learning delivery, with a strong background in government or military learning environments.

 

This job will convert to full-time, in-person, located in Huntsville, AL, non-negotiable.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply the ADDIE model to design, develop, and evaluate instructional materials and curricula for instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced eLearning environments.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), program managers, and other stakeholders to gather content and validate instructional approaches.
  • Develop instructional strategies, learning objectives, storyboards, course content, assessments, and evaluation metrics.
  • Create engaging and interactive multimedia learning content.
  • Analyze existing training programs to recommend improvements, modifications, or new course development.
  • Ensure all deliverables meed DoD standards and client expectations, including SCORM compliance and Section 508 accessibility.
  • Conduct formative and summative evaluations to ensure learning effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Support development of CDRL deliverables and have familiarity with creating and editing documents to be delivered to the customer.
  • Work well in a cross-functional team environment.
Qualifications:
  • Prior military aviation maintenance and aviation training experience ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED. This is non-negotiable.
  • Experience working directly with military learners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training Development, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, with at least 3 years supporting DoD or federal government training initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
  • Proficiency in eLearning development tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience designing for both in-person and digital training environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Air Education and Training Command (or service equivalent) experience.
  • Maintenance / Instructor experience on US Air Force or US Navy fighter aircraft.
  • Experience developing content for a virtual and/or VR/AR environment.
  • Experience with SCORM, xAPI, and Section 508 compliance
  • Experience in Game Design using the Unity or Unreal engine.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
